Why Do People Pretend That Wilder Wasn't Signed to Fight the #2 HW in The World.....

  • Wilder was likely chasing the Fury/Klitschko II winner, that's why there was "pressure" to get a fight in by July. The timing of the fight was tricky as it is to be close enough so the Fury/Klitschko winner couldn't find another opponent quick enough. Wilder getting injured was a setback in more ways than one. Fury/Klitschko II then got postponed and then canceled. The injury allowed AJ to get in a voluntary without anybody giving him **** for it.
Ortiz is a funny case, he's sitting pretty with a direct title shot IBF mandatory with the AJ/Klitschko winner but instead he'd skip that to fight an WBC eliminator to get a title shot. How is that in Ortiz's best interest? I doubt anybody thinks Eddie Hearn has Ortiz's best interests at heart. He wants to send Ortiz over to Wilder like an attack dog and Ortiz is willing to play the part.

Just because you say "forget Povetkin" doesn't mean we should. Why should we forget facts, logic and reason? Wilder has been champion 2 years. During that time, he agreed to fight the #1 fighter in enemy territory. Not his fault he cheated. In that time, he's had numerous injuries.

And yet he's still managed to schedule several defenses against top 20 guys in the IBO computerized rankings. Not his fault the top guys are fighting for other organizations. If they viewed Wilder as easy pickings, they'd be lining up to fight him. It's common sense.

If he's mandated to fight Ortiz, he'll fight Ortiz. Wilder hasn't ducked anybody and is currently negotiating a unification fight for the Summer. If he didn't duck Povetkin after losing the purse bid, when he could have easily ditched the belt and fought Martin for the IBF, he's not going to duck anybody.
      25 months, not 26. wow

joshua - 2 defenses, 1 moneygrab, 1 reschedule from wba not sanctioning klit quick enough.
      Parker - no defenses
Wilder - 2 year champ , not faced a top 10 until now.

Did not agree, was mandated. wouldnt drop the belt for reasons explained shortly. Haymon purse bid was also 5 million, you know damn well the 7 mil bid was by the russian for home advantage, not due to wbc prestige. stop being misleading.

Guys are fighting for other orgs because Wilder presents no money. fighting on free tv in alabama pays nowhere near as much as fighting eachother on ppv in the UK etc etc

If wilder ducked for the IBF, pulev would not have taken mando and deontay would have fought Joshua. Haymon wanted none of it so bought a lofty place in the WBC rankings from a bum fight and fought a nearly dead stiverne. Wilder was 2 and 3 in the WBA and WBO rankings in 2014, he couldve waited for mando to Klit.. he avoided it like the plague.

A belt is as prestigious as the person wearing it makes it, that goes for every champion. if we're going by the level of opponents a champ faces in comparison to his (claimed) own level.. then parker and Joshua after their next fights blow wilder out the water until he steps up.

P.S.. wilder wants none of Ortiz if he's his mando, expect him to seek unification out of the weakest other champ if the old man gets #1 spot

If Ortiz believes he can beat anybody then it doesn't matter which strap he gets a shot at

If Wilder can't get a unification fight this year then Ortiz, Haye and maybe Ruiz Jr are the only other credible opponents for him, and he desperately needs to fight someone credible ASAP

        • Ortiz is mando for the WBA super, but gets the IBF and IBO aswell i imagine if he beats the klit/aj winner.

Hearn will swerve him to Wilder to try and get the WBC knowing he can set up an internal stable megafight.

Imagine how much he rakes in if 3 of the 4 major belts are on the line in a fight between two of his fighters. crazy

Thank you. Wilder presents nothing to any of these higher tier fighters (Wlad, Fury, Joshua, Ortiz) and the fact is that Parker's team would outbid DiBella if they went to a purse bid and the fight would be in New Zealand.

They said Wilder would duck Povetkin if Haymon lost the purse bid. That didn't happen. Povetkin's promoter won the bid, set the date in Russia, and Wilder was training overseas in preparation to make a title defense against a top heavyweight fighter.

Unfortunately, Povetkin wasn't confident enough in his abilities and tried to get away with cheating instead of battling the Bronze Bomber on a level playing field.

Instead, Wilder takes whatever he can get on short notice, injures himself in the fight, and suffers a setback. In his comeback fight, his opponent once again tests postive for PEDs resulting in another lower caliber short notice opponent.

I agree Wilder needs to improve his resume. But fact of the matter is that he tried to but his opponent was a coward and needed "extra advantages".
Nice biased poll bro. It doesn't matter how close he might have been, it didn't happen. Period. You don't get courtesy wins for fights "almost happening".

So another top fighter fears fighting Wilder on a level playing field. Who's fault is this?
