What I would say is he didn't face a great variety of different styles, and combine to that during the time he was on top the other guys around him weren't equipped to handle his style.

He's very physically gifted though, his ground game was on some next level but he never fought someone with elite BJJ who could match him for size, that would have been a lot more of a challenge for him than all the strikers he fought.

A similar thing is happening right now with Adesanya, in boxing terms it's like if Fury only ever fought stationary sluggers who held center ring, he'd look amazing but there's different styles to that.

MMA evolves so rapidly that in a year or two there will be someone in that weight class who everyone says would beat Khabib, which is kind of sad they never let anyone rest in that sport.

Youre talking about shields and maia as if they were ever elite fighters in their mediocre careers. Tell me, did any of them win a ufc belt even though they dealt with less competition? They fought in weak eras and fought bums. Khabib is undefeated in a era where mma is super competitive and belts change every 2-3 fights. So yeah khabib would mount them and beat them to a bloody mess. Perhaps you should sit down gramps
