I'm not a fan, but Ricky Hatton deserves a mention. He had a following similar to Beatlemania, brought massive followings with him wherever he fought. Was like a carnival atmosphere, almost shut the UK down several times. Won the Lineal Super Lightweight and Paper Welterweight titles. Stepped in the ring with the two absolute best of his generation.
His legacy is diminished by three factors:
- he never replicated the Kostya Tszyu win in the UK
- he openly ducked Junior Witter
- the failed comeback attempt resulting in a third loss
No doubt Millenials and posters who aren't members of the supreme White race will hate on this post. Those in the know, know that Hatton was something else in his prime. A real star attraction with an old fashioned approach and fighting style.

In his prime - a la Floyd - he had unbelievable stamina and work rate. In close he was highly efficient, however, he did not have many skilled means to "close the distance". After Floyd he got banged out by journeymen level guys (copying Floyd's check hook). His chin was shot and his confidence was even worse.
Pacman took whatever was left of him and I do not rate that win highly at all because Ricky was so far gone by that point

Locks in no order
Pacquiao
Mayweather
Morales
Marquez
Barrera
R Gonzalez
Winky Wright
Sergey Kovalev
Calzaghe
Andre Ward
Hopkins
Could get there in the future
Crawford- Amazingly talented but he needs to beat someone good.
Lomachenko- Another amazingly talented guy. Might even be the best but im not sure where to place him. For me his best win is Walters. The GRJ victory is also good but GRJ hasnt done much afterwards to see how good of a victory. I will say this for Loma, based on the eye test he seems to be the best right now.
Golovkin- It's a pity GGG is only getting the good fights now. When this guy was prime nobody wanted to fight him and with good reason. Its also a pity he has to adopt such an agressive style because he's a foreigner. GGG could just sit behind his jab and win fights easily(but if he did that chances are he would have gotten the big fights even later in his career). I will say this for him, except for maybe hopkins there is no one at middleweight after 2000 that i think beats prime GGG.
