frankie gomez is one of wild cards gym brightest boxing prospects, a 20-year-old welterweight who’s 13-0 with 10 knockouts. pacquiao is just eight days away from the biggest fight of his career, roach said gomez’s performance in the ring has been critical to preparation.
“i use frankie for activity. i want manny to fight full three-minute rounds against marquez, and frankie gets in there and forces manny to do that.” roach said.
roach has taken over as gomez’s trainer, and will fight on dec. 15 on the undercard of amir khan-carlos molina.
gomez seems like a solid find for roach but it begs me to questions how long can roach in the boxing game considering his condition. in any case, i would kill to see that sparring session. hope they show it on 24/7.
