Sweden is a legal disaster and what I would call an "undeveloping country" -- a first-world country thrust by socialism and mass immigration back into being third-world in terms of certain social metrics & general corruption.

With that said I do think Trump is guilty of some Democrat style identity pandering here. A rapper getting into a street fight with some kids over a pair of headphones is not really this high-profile of a case.

He's playing it because it was a black American vs some Muslim immigrants and it helps to send his message that he isn't racist and is anti-Islamification.

But is that seriously gonna work? Really doubtful.

Who is he going to take a massive hit from? Foreigners? He doesn't care what foreigners think. Americans that like Trump will only see it as the president taking up for American citizens. Besides these things happen everyday just not so publicly. Trump wanted it public for black Americans to see.

Sweden until quite recently stood as one of the world's most politically reputable countries but it's in a state of freefall the past few years.

The only time you see it mentioned in the US anymore is as an example of squandered potential and national suicide.

This is how Eastern European politicians have come to portray Sweden as well. "Vote for me or we will end up colonized like the Swedish cowards".

And they aren't wrong.

Picking a fight with it is likely more of a reputation booster.
