  • Undefeated Champ OR Rebounding from Defeat To Become Champ - What's More Impressive?

What do you find more impressive overall.. A fighter with a pristine, undefeated record, OR a fighter who has been beaten (perhaps in a devastating manner) who rebounds from the defeat(s), raises their game and eventually wins world titles?

        Both...are impressive

But if lets say a fighter is undefeated with more than 15 Titles Defense...
That would have to be more Impressive...

as the Champ of that Weight class you have to always fight a mandatory or a top 5 ranked fighter in every Bout!!!!

If a Champ gets beat he can fight the 8 ranked guy that pulled a Upset(won a Belt) and take his Belt!!!!!

Still both are impressive(only if the Rebounding Champion beat the guy that took his belt in a rematch)

        B.hop Streak Was Impressive
        Mayweather Streak Impressive
Manny Pac Streak before marquez was every impressive too...

Khan getting the belt and losing it 2 or 3 fights Later Not Impressive..

Depends entirely on WHO you fought.

Boxing's royalty is made up of guys that rebounded from defeat because they dared to fight the best.

            Can't really say.

Getting destroyed by Pacquiao and "bouncing back" to defeat Yuri Foreman to become champion isn't more impressive than being undefeated.

Now, losing to Roy Jones, then bouncing back to defend your title 20 times, become the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world at one point and still be a world champion at 48 years old is very impressive though.

Undefeated champions are more impressive. Wins are better than losses. If a fighter comes back from a loss to become a champion that's good but it still doesn't make the loss go away. It would be better if he never lost in the first place. Take Lennox Lewis for instance. He twice came back to KO fighters that KOed him. Still his record would be more impressive if he had KOed them in the first fight and he had a perfect record with no losses.

                What Mak said.

Undefeated guy with an impressive resume and impressive accomplishments is the best career to have.

But an undefeated, largely untested champion, is not more impressive than a Johnny Gonzalez or a Glen Johnson.

Also, fake undefeated fighters like Broner and Bradley are not more impressive either. I rather watch Canelo and Cotto over Broner and Bradley.

It all depends on how that particular fighter rebounded, and who the undefeated champ beat/ how he's performed.

I'll say it a thousand times, nobody stays undefeated if they fight everyone put in front of them.

Therefore, the latter is obviously the greater achievement.
