Joshua does "need" to make it in America, but he doesn't need to make it in boxing. AJ and Fury will make mega bucks fighting in the U.K but just as well he and Wilder will be the biggest fight in the U.S.

He doesnt 'have' to. But he should.
He might not ever get true cross over appeal in the U.S. like he does here, but just being a known commodity over there would be huge in terms of getting sponsership deals and the like.
I think he should take a paycut and fight Wilder in the US tbh. How many chances is he going to get in his career to fight an American HW title holder in the US? They dont have any big prospects coming up that i can think of

Like others have said he doesn't really need to, he'll end his career with millions, probably hundreds of millions fighting his whole career from the UK but he should fight all over to maximise income.
Eddie Hearn has already said that both him and Joshua want him to fight all over the globe in, China, USA, Africa, South America. I'm sure he'll fight in the US within his next 4-5 fights.

Joshua is immensely popular in the UK. He's already more popular than Lewis ever was in the UK and in a year he'll probably be more popular than Hatton ever was. Guy's a household name in England. nobody knows who Wilder is.
The UK is the new hub of Heavyweight Boxing, Wilder needs to make it over in England to be considered legit.

More likely Wilder heads to the UK to build his name up over here.
If he fights Bellew that's a low-risk fight for a good payday, and at the end of the night thousands of people at the venue and millions at home will be thinking 'I can't wait to see Joshua KTFO this mouthy Yank at Wembley in 2018'.
It's true that being a US PPV star would take AJ to the next level of popularity/earnings but aside from Wilder I cannot think of any American heavyweight who would make for a decent opponent for him. Jarrell Miller maybe but no one else comes to mind.
