It's the reason I get called a hypocrite in here. Because I think we have too many guns, they are too easy to obtain, I speak out against that but I myself have one.

I don't carry it with me, and I don't even enjoy shooting it. I have it because I have a wife and child at home, and if someone comes in to my home with a gun, I want the chance to protect myself and family.

Do I wish it was different, sure but conservatives have sold the idea of guns wrapped in a perfect package called patriotism and Americans have fallen for it hook line and sinker.

So now, if you mention anything outside of guns for everyone, you are a socialist that wants to take guns away.

It's nonsense. I'm telling you, next time it will be a militia style attack and there will be a group of 10,20 people doing the attacking.

terrorism is a tiny portion of total amount of gun crime in the country. i agree when you say that a well connected organization could still get high powered guns in the states. i would argue that instances of international and domestic terrorism of the kind you're suggesting is extremely rare when compare it to the thousands of deaths each year involving these "other criminal elements."

Oh and this may be useful. By law, all firearms must be kept and locked in a police approved cabinet drilled into a brick wall. This can prevent accidents.

Of course I'm serious. What's so wrong about that? Guns are a great deterrent. Just ask the Japanese admiral who, when questioned why Japan didn't invade the West Coast right after the Pearl Harbor attack, said the following:

"We did indeed know much about your preparedness. We knew that probably every second home in your country contained firearms. We knew that your country actually had state championships for private citizens shooting military rifles. We were not fools to set foot in such quicksand."

Guns can also be used to protect yourself from other things, though. Not just invasions. Robberies, rapes, home break ins, terrorism etc.
