Frazier didn't burn out fast in my opinion, He had a lot of hard tough wars, and he sacrificed a long, long career to bring us unforgettable memories. You'd have to burn out after so many long and intense fights with men usually bigger than him. ------------------------------------- I think Marciano retired BEFORE he had become burned out and could have at least three good fights left in him. Rocky's decision to retire is one of the most astute retirement decisions of any boxer ever. He had gone right through the division and was getting at that age where a fighter may suddenly fade in the space of a single fight. Marciano's retirement was well planned in advance,... he was only getting about 25% of the cut and had been ripped off for years. Al Weill had figured that with such a low cut of the available money would keep Marciano needing to fight for many years to come, even trying to make money out of him when a washed up has-been.... Rocky outsmarted Weill by saving every possible penny,.... and his family wanted him to retire......... These were Rocky's major reasons for his decision... and he deserved to be remembered as the great fighter he actually was.

Yeah there's a fair degree of truth in that first paragraph,...... but only if the boxer is a near-genius,... there's usually a slugger out there with the antidote for the Boxer.
