people act like wilder didn't start boxing in his 20s and as if there are 20 elite HW boxers he can fight. pretty much anyone at HW who has any spark is just now establishing themselves. after the povtk fight it would have been nice to see where he went from there has he won. he was a project who just started to look promising, not many fighters can pick up this sport in their 20s and get this far. meanwhile u have fighters who have been in the sport for years and are just now fighting meaningful fights. I think late 2017 early 2018 we should start seeing better fights at HW .

If you think a guy is in peak shape for a fight and then again in peak shape 2 months later (and has stayed like that) then you're wasting my time and clearly don't know anything about boxing or sport in general.

Wilder is always in shape. That's no excuse.

You're just a fanboy trying to legitimize a fight that was a disgrace to the green belt like most of Wilder's fights are.
You can either get in the ring as quickly as possible or take a break and through another 8 week camp for another top fighter. He wanted to get in the ring ASAP. You dudes are really penalizing him for Povetkin's PED use.

LOL @ "begged"....Still playing the Ortiz card when it's been shot down numerous times in this thread.

y'all just need to admit and acknowledge the double standard.

wilder is the only heavyweight champion getting trashed here, even though he has the best resume. where is the logic?
This leftovers thing keeps coming up

Aj's second defence and 18th pro fight, hastily arranged because the WBA wouldnt sanction the Klitschko fight quick enough.

Fought Wilders leftovers with a shorter camp, blitzed him to bits in 3 rounds. The leftovers that rocked wilder with a busted ankle and took 9 rounds to get out.

Best resume, this is one that keeps coming up and I see Malik "scuba" Scott always come up in this, the Malik scott that 70% of this forum voted took a dive. Also some amazing rankings ascendancy from Wilder around these fights too..

The fight after this, Deontay fought Jason Gavern, whom he retired in 4 rounds in his 32nd fight..

That's not a "keep busy" fight.. thats a ****ing joke padding.

The same Jason Gavern Joshua later KO'd in 3 in his 11th professional fight.

So if theres nothing wrong in your eyes with Wilder facing someone like molina and gavern in his 32nd and 34th fights , 6 years after he turned pro.. then theres nothing wrong with AJ fighting them in his 11th and 18th fights only 18 months and 2 years, respectively, after he turned pro ?

**** resume, **** who fighter x and fighter Y have fought...Wilder has a **** record for someone who has been boxing as long as he has. FACT.

You still gonna be trotting out that line in 2020 when zelenoff is still the best name on his resume?
          BoxRec rankings. He SAID THAT

Everybody ranting about Wilder's resume even though it's the strongest of any current heavyweight champion. Your position is illogical.

Still doesn't change the fact that Wilder has the best resume of any current heavyweight champion. And if he has the best resume, why is his resume criticized nonstop? Because he's with Al Haymon. Plain and simple.

Klitschko & Fury are both unranked by TBRB and a Fury defense is no more impressive than the Duhaupas defense. Kudos to Joshua for facing Klitschko. If he wins, he'll deserve to be considered one of the top two heavyweights in the world alongside Wilder.

And if they keep winning, they will surely face each other and may the best man win. But the criticism Wilder takes here is ridiculous and there's no denying it's a double standard.

But in addition to being the longest reigning champ, he also have the best resume. I'm not saying you should be impressed, I'm saying you look like an idiot when you **** on the guy with the better resume.
Wilder doesn't have the best resume. In your mind he does. Not in real life. His resume sucks and it's nothing you want to pick out for a guy with nearly 40 fights.

AJ and Parker have turned pro in 2013 and 2012. When they turned pro Wilder already had 20+ fights. That's why they don't get hated on. It has nothing to do with Haymon or double standards or whatever you make up in your little head. It has something to do with Wilder fighting bums almost 10 years into his pro reign whilst these guys are fighting for belts as soon as they can and fight the best instantly after grabbing a belt.

Wilder is the exact opposite. He is content with fighting bums this long into his pro career and guys like you eat it up therefore he doesn't have to do anything else.

Fury defense is no more impressive than a duhaupaus defense Dude please. Stop talking. Look at the two guys fight.

One is an undefeated, world class and champion amateur, skillful fighter. The other is a belgian waffle tough guy who struggled with kebab owner Erkan teper and fat doorman Manual Charr.

ortiz called him out for this date wilder had but he decided to fight this big useless football player instead. I guess next year will be the year wilder has his big fight!!! and then when 2018 hits, he'll fight bums and you'll say 2019s gonna be the year he gets the big fights!!! Fact is noones ducking wilder, hes very vulnerable. Doubt haye or ortiz would say no to him, especially seen as haye wobbled him with a headguard on and sparring gloves

Who were the great options available last summer on short notice that didn't have promotional issues, weren't chasing rematches that never materialized or didn't already have plans set up? Arreola was as well known a heavy from the US as they could get, which is the best option in the circumstance.

The only real problem with the Arreola fight is Wilder got injured

Get in the ring ASAP is 2 months down the line?

Are you actually being serious with this bullshit? You sound like a complete delusional fanboy.

It's not been shot down. It's been excused like everything else like the one you just made.

There's not possible excuse for him fighting Chris Arreola.

Why did it have to be on short notice? It's such a pathetic excuse.
