Once again Boxing IN GENERAL is struggling a bit in America. It is going to take something DRASTIC to give this sport that boost it needs and I'm not just taking about PBC I'm talking about EVERYBODY because NONE OF THEM are doing all that great right now. Attendance and TV Ratings seems to be rapidly declining for ALL OF BOXING in the U.S. and that is not good for the sport at all

Fans pretending to be naive in wanting to make it seem like "Only PBC Is Doing Bad While DAZN and Top Rank Are Doing Great" which is LIE!

Boxing just cannot seem to get that younger Demographic interested into their sport and when you don't do well in that 16-34 Demographic then the future does not look good. Especially when the Younger Demographic is far more into others sports and the competition like MMA/UFC far more than they are into Boxing

Look like a Website that anybody on this forum could've made to be honest, need a more credible source than that though but we shall see how things play out after the 4 year deal is up for PBC with FOX and we shall see how things go for Showtime

Stop that dumb talk. T.B.E. hasn't ducked or cherry picked anyone. He is the biggest attraction of all time & now that he left everyone struggling to find the next big thing & right now its Canelo.

The only shows doing worse ratings than PBC are much cheaper to produce than the ~$60 million a year they're spending on boxing. For comparison $60 million was Game of Thrones' season 1 budget and they were getting 3-5x as many viewers.
I already understand all of that. The question is how do we know that Showtime Championship boxing is going out of business?

The answer is we don't. That is my only argument. There is no way of substantiating the rumor mill.

Besides, if they were indeed pulling the plug on it's boxing programming then why wouldn't they allow Al Haymon to let Wilder fight on DAZN. Also why would they pay him $10mil just to fight a mandatory defense on their network?

it would cool if espn or dazn just bought "them." I still don't know wtf a pbc is, but it'd be cool if a lot of those fighter's regularly on pbc produced shows on showtime or fox or cbs or spike or BET would just sign on one of the major platforms (specifically espn, who have shown they're not scared of promoting and talking about other network fighters and their upcoming bouts).

This isn't about seeing Haymon fail, bc believe you me, he has succeeded in making himself rich and maybe his plan was always to sell and retire. Not everyone wants to manage forever and deal with those stresses. This is merely for the sake of bridging the divide in boxing that Haymon thus far hasn't helped bridge.

Well thanks for proving my point about fanboys.

In the UK we enjoy the sport first.

Seems as you got a fanboy culture over there if so many stopped watching because a fighter retired.

Even your venues lack atmosphere, with people leaving half way through.

Maybe that is the American mentality, that is why you need cheerleaders and half time shows for people to come to your sporting events.

Exactly, I agree with everything you've just posted. Boxing's popularity is down everywhere in the states and globally. Also, taking boxing off of television isn't exactly helping matters either. It is only going to make it harder in order to draw the non boxing fan and to help expand an already shrinking demographic.

I donít think people realize how boxing is just a small portion of their strategy. Their trying to be the next ESPN style sports content channel.
As far as PBC goes, I hope it goes under bc itís bad for boxing. They just want to hold belts hostage and do mostly showcase fights instead of fights people want to see.
Not true at all. PBC is making fights happen. Its the boys across the street that don't want to play. If they don't want to play then they can stay.
