  • NSB PICK 'EM 2019 #16 and #17. 13th April 2019

    Saturday 13th April 2019

    Minneapolis, MN, USA (UTC-5)

    Peter Quillin vs Caleb Truax

    and

    Sergiy Derevyanchenko vs Jack Culcay

    BETTING ODDS:

    Quillin: -250 Truax: +225
    Derevyanchenko: -1400 Culcay: +600 (x2 on Culcay)

    Ways fighters can win:
    Decision: WIDE or CLOSE
KO: EARLY (1-4), MID (5-8) or LATE (9-12)

Examples of the ways you can state your decision:

PICK EM CREW, Truax, KO, Mid x2
PICK EM CREW, Culcay, DEC, WIDE
If no multiplier is specified in your pick (ie x2, x3) then it will be assumed that no multiplier is being used (x1)
If you wish to pick a Draw result, simply state your Username, both fighter names and DRAW, ie:

PICK EM CREW, Quillin, Truax, DRAW
IMPORTANT NOTE: NONE OF THE WBSS FIGHTS CAN BE SCORED A DRAW - ONE FIGHTER WILL ALWAYS BE DECLARED A WINNER. ANY UNCORRECTED DRAW PICKS ON THE WBSS WILL BE WASTED.

    NOTES:
-Picking the correct winner earns 20 pts
-Picking the correct method earns 10 pts
-Picking the correct detail is worth 10 pts
-Draws are worth 120 pts. A perfect pick without a multiplier is 40pts.

-CLOSE is <12 pts difference, or anything closer than 116-112 on all three scorecards. WIDE is >=12 pts difference, or anything equivalent to 116-112 on all three cards or wider.

-If you'd like to change your pick before the fight starts, post in this thread to do so. Ideally tag me so that I don't miss it.

-2X doubles your points and 3X triples your points. Everyone starts with 5 doubles and 3 triples to use throughout the year. If you forget how many you have left, check the leaderboard in the master thread.

OK Gentlemen - just a reminder we're going for the double double this week, so don't forget to post your picks in both threads.

Two solid match ups here despite what some may think of as something of a mismatch in Culcay vs Derevyanchenko. Culcay ain't any kind of elite, but he's not long off giving Andrade a tough night and neither did Sulecki have it all his way. With Derevyanchenko absent from the ring since his loss to Jacobs there's reason to find this one interesting.

Quillin vs Truax is a crossroads for both guys - or maybe just a chance at one last shot at the top for both. At 35 years old the loser ain't gonna get many more chances, but we just might see the winner as an opponent for Plant, Benavidez or Dirrell before too long. Either way, a solid fight between two ex-champs (I know, I know - you can call em paper dudes if you like) and for my money a much tighter match up than the bookies would have you believe.
