  • NSB PICK 'EM 2019 #50, #51 and #52. 20th July 2019

    Saturday 20th July 2019

    Greenwich, UK (UTC+1)

    Dillian Whyte vs Oscar Rivas

    and

    Las Vegas, NV, USA(UTC-7)

    Caleb Plant vs Mike Lee

    and

Luis Nery vs Juan Carlos Payano

    BETTING ODDS:

    Whyte: -500 Rivas +350
    Plant: -3300 Lee: +1000 (x4 on Lee)
    Nery: -2000 Payano: +900 (x3 on Payano)

    Ways fighters can win:
    Decision: WIDE or CLOSE
KO: EARLY (1-4), MID (5-8) or LATE (9-12)

Examples of the ways you can state your decision:

PICK EM CREW, Rivas, KO, Mid x2
PICK EM CREW, LEE, DEC, CLOSE
If no multiplier is specified in your pick (ie x2, x3) then it will be assumed that no multiplier is being used (x1)
If you wish to pick a Draw result, simply state your Username, both fighter names and DRAW, ie:

PICK EM CREW, Nery, Payano, DRAW
IMPORTANT NOTE: NONE OF THE WBSS FIGHTS CAN BE SCORED A DRAW - ONE FIGHTER WILL ALWAYS BE DECLARED A WINNER. ANY UNCORRECTED DRAW PICKS ON THE WBSS WILL BE WASTED.

    NOTES:
-Picking the correct winner earns 20 pts
-Picking the correct method earns 10 pts
-Picking the correct detail is worth 10 pts
-Draws are worth 120 pts. A perfect pick without a multiplier is 40pts.

-CLOSE is <12 pts difference, or anything closer than 116-112 on all three scorecards. WIDE is >=12 pts difference, or anything equivalent to 116-112 on all three cards or wider.

-If you'd like to change your pick before the fight starts, post in this thread to do so. Ideally tag me so that I don't miss it.

-2X doubles your points and 3X triples your points. Everyone starts with 5 doubles and 3 triples to use throughout the year. If you forget how many you have left, check the leaderboard in the master thread.

Chisora Vs Szpilka is more interesting than the Plant-Lee and Nery fight. That is more of a pick'em

Okay gentlemen - a busy weekend for the Pick Em - 6 fights in all and there were a couple more I wouldn't have minded including. Be sure to make your picks on both threads.. as usual the Pick Ems are numbered chronologically by time zone then running order as much as possible, so the two earliest fights from Vegas got put on the same thread as the London HW showdown between Whyte and Rivas.

If I'd noticed it earlier I would probably have put Soro vs Kurbanov on the other thread in place of Plant vs Lee, but thems the breaks... honestly hard to see anyone picking Lee, even with the tasty x4 multiplier attached.

        Anyways, good luck gentlemen.

Yeah. And Soro - Kurbanov and Vlasov - Chilemba.

My fault for not including Chisora vs Szplika and Soro vs Kurbanov on the upcoming pick ems poll really but I simply didn't notice Soro - Kurbanov and decided at the time Del Boy and Artur were too far down the food chain, though in hindsight... ah well.

I'd really have liked the Vlasov vs Chilemba rematch too but it just didn't get enough player interest (only 22% wanted it in... what you gonna do?).

All I can say is that I'll be putting up an 'upcoming pick em' thread for August some time in the next week or so... please add your contributions and thoughts to that and maybe you can pick up on some fights that I miss or work on convincing folk that the most recognised names don't always make for the best Pick Ems.
