realistically, how long would it take to learn espanol?

Id say in two years you could be pretty good but you'll still sound like a gringo unless you're constantly around it. Learning it on your own will also make you sound robotic because you're not reflecting off an instructor. The real difficulty is making it sound natural.

Great advice. The Japanese courses in college were kinda useful, but I sounded like a robot. I could only ask simple questions, etc.

After over a decade immersed in it, I can get buy pretty well.

One thing I cannot do, is translate between Spanish and Japanese.
