pac still had to pay arum a large chunk out of that 40 million and with 0 percent of the ppv in reality it was about the same as a normal payday for him. floyd on the other hand turned down 100 million or so. who looks stupid?

Pac could of accepted 40, 50 or even a 100 million. Still wouldn't of mattered cause FMJ would of come up with some other obsticle so that the fight couldn't happen. Trying to save face. The whole money thing is just another issue in a long line of excuses.

Politics. FMJ is indeed a smart business man. Smart enough to know that a loss against Pac would lower his stock and leverage. Ultimately, he knows that he is big enough to fight B class fighters and dictating payout. Ultimately, he makes the same if not more without the risk. Hense the new contract with showtime.

He's taken boxing down a different path as seen in the older days of boxing. It's all business these days. Less risk with higher pay outs rather then making money second and just fighting the best. One can blame other promotors but we all know the Fmj camp aren't the most coperative bunch out there.

VERY STUPID...but at the same time without getting any % of the PPV he would have gotten ROBBED out of a lot of Money on the Back End while Mayweather would have made double maybe even triple the amount Pacquiao was going to receive

But the difference is that Mayweather just got the mega deal with Showtime/CBS while Pacquiao is still stuck with Bob Arum who is taking most of his money like most Promoters do, that sucks, hopefully Pacquiao will one day see the light and get away from Arum like Cotto did, Pacquiao fanbase is loyal, they will follow him, he don't even need Arum at this point in his career

Not stupid at all. Pac floyd would've been the biggest money maker in boxing history. If Pac accepted 40 million flat and no more, everyone including Pac himself would've thought he's a chump.

Floyds offer, and manner in which he made it, and the reaction to being told that Pac wanted to share the profits, just goes to show the lack of humility and class in Floyd. Floyd is just completely uncool as a person.

You're asking the wrong question, because then we would have threads about stupid of a businessman Pacquiao is for accepting $40 million. You see Pacquiao wouldn't be offered $40 million if the fight wasn't projected to guarantee way more. So obviously it takes both of them to make the fight, if not, Mayweather would offer everybody $40 million.

The question would be, How stupid was Pacquiao for taking $40 million after the fight generated XX amount and Mayweather walked away with $150 million?

                or

How stupid was Mayweather to offer Pacquiao only $40 million when they both would've made $70 million for ONE fight?

Pacquiao still makes $20+ million per fight, and Mayweather has to fight 5 times to make $100 million from Showtime or whatever. Point is, they're both stupid.

Considering he went 0-2 after rejecting it, not the smartest.

Yet he still makes an absurd amount of money and we'll see what happens in Macau.

Well..he went to Narnia for less... So hindsight being 20/20 I'm sure HE feels stupid.

That was horrible. What happened to him is what you literally hope doesnt happen to a fighter you like. Knockouts like those are what make you nervous to fight/watch.

He'd have had 40 mil plus some ppv (As far as I know Flpyd never said no PPV but that they need to agree on the guarantee first before even discussing it)... He ended up in stranded in Narnia for less money...obviously it's not an ideal situation lol
