Something few of us Americans already knew.

I always laugh at the saying, "so this is how the other half live".

I don't really see the issue.

What do they want, the rich to give all their money to the poor in taxes so companies take their business elsewhere to other nations?

Do they think the rich are so much happier for all the money they have? studies suggest otherwise beyond a base level of income.

Of course having people in poverty is not good, but there are other measures to prevent this beyond throwing money at the problem.

            Lets break this video down.

            1. "Distribution of this countries wealth". No such thing. Just using those words heads us towards a false premise. More on that at the vary end.

            2. Harvard Business professor (<<==Socialist, collectivist, Keynesian sleazebag word alert). What his name?

3 The video is half-right. We don't have to go to Socialism to find something that is "fair" (another misnomer) or "ideal" (misnomer), true Free Market Capitalism will get us there. And if it doesn't, there is a free market reason for it. Not because there is a paper money system and people in the financial system who shuffle money around and living off of the producers.

4, "We need to wake up and realize that reality is not what we think it is". The narrator is right. Too many people believe the problem is that we have too much Capitalism, too much greed. When in fact it's the opposite, we don't have enough Capitalism (19th century Gilded age style that is). They're blaming the wrong thing for the problems and thus prescribing the wrong solutions...further heading us towards insolvency.

And finally...to get back to # 1. If you want to redistribute wealth, then that means that you want a Distributor in charge. But what Free marketers understand is that all power corrupts. You don't want someone setting prices, interest rates or determining who earns how much...or who gets to keep how much. You simply get out of the way with your govt, and let the pure market determine it. Just like at one point, the market settled on Gold as a form of exchange. The Govt didn't even have to force you to use Gold, it just was something everyone liked.

You're correct. The solution is less Govt. And less involvement in the financial sector/stock market etc,. through monetary policy. There needs to more emphasis on production such as manufacturing, engineering and less on ppl in finance. All this imbalance is caused by govt and them not allowing resources to be allocated naturally...as opposed to them using their powers to targeting which sectors to prop up. And as a result you've got less producers and more takers (ppl who go into finance, career in the stock market who go after all the free money).

We need more guys like this:

              (producers of days past)

              And less guys like this:

              (the unproductive takers)

Some of the key comments from the youtube's comment section on this video:

The problem with the narrator's logic here is that he's trying to directly correlate someone's income with how hard they work.

Even in NATURE that's not how it works. Not even CLOSE.

The value of something isn't driven by effort alone. Any starving artist can tell you that.

It also SHOULDN'T be based on effort.

If someone solves a problem in ONE efficient step their work shouldn't be worth less than someone who wastes their whole life on it, or infinitely less than someone who doesn't even TRY.

Exactly. Your income is driven by how PRODUCTIVE you are, not by how hard you work.

Plowing a field by hand is hard work. Plowing a field with a tractor is much easier. The guy with the tractor will earn way more than the guy doing it by hand even though he isn't working as "hard"

                End of thread.

Huh!! America doesn't know poor, have you seen what's really poor? Go to any famished and 3rd world countries!! America's poor have TV and cable television, 3rd world countries' poor would be lucky if they find a rotten hamburger in the city's trash.

But yeah, sure I would like these Oligarchs to lessen what they have. But not to the point of being a communist.
