if you want to be safe on the highway from state troopers you need a laser detector type.
they can get pricey, but lots of the troopers today are using the lasers and your regular radar detector wont help you
and if you're just flat out bombing around all the time (50 in a 30 is bombing)
you're not going to be helped much by a detector
if a cop sees you going that fast he can "estimate//match" your speed. he doesn't need radar.
it really only helps you out if you're going like ten or 15 over and you have time to downshift or hit the brake before you pass the cop so you're doing the limit.
you might not get a ticket that you'll have to pay in full if he estimates your speed
but if you don't want to pay it you'll be in court for half a day and taking time out of work.
also, if you get a ****load of tickets piling up you'll literally pay thousands extra in insurance over the course of your car's lifetime
if you have a clean driving record you'll find that by your 25th birthday (unless you drive a very valuable car) your insurance shouldn't be much more than a grand. maybe less.

it will probably be at least two grand. maybe a bit more.
