Seems to be a lot of revisionist history on this fight. There was even footage of ward acknowledging team dawson asking for a catchweight before the fight but ward quote "he said he'd fight at 168, so lets keep him to his word".

That victory means next to nothing as dawson had nothing. Dawson said ward was threatening no fight if dawson didnt agree to 168, but is this a surprise? Ward is known for fuking people up royally in negotiations.

Dawson handled the whole situation badly. Maybe his ego got the better of him in the moment when he said he'd go to 168 but no one forced him to say that and not Ward's fault Dawson committed to a weight he couldn't make without draining himself. At what point did he try to get it changed, before or after they signed the contract?

Ward did shoot JFK though you just need to take your bias out of it and look at the facts if you can't accept that.

I imagine that HBO's professional **** starter Max Kellerman got Ward's 168 Pound ball rolling and Dawson ran with it from there.
However, Dawson found the weight loss excruciating and says he tried his best to change their fight to catchweight but neither Ward or HBO would budge for the longtime warrior.
Interesting, Dawson's trainer John Scully also seems to throw Dawson under the bus after the fight but a bit more subtle than John David Jackson's latest antics against his fighter Kovalev.

I think Dawson's trainer Scully went overboard in blaming Dawson's mouth and also seems to contradict himself a lot. Anyway, I dont think the two have spoken since the Ward fight.

If I were getting as week as Dawson was, I would have definitely weaseled out and insisted on a catchweight but weasels have to be more sneaky than Dawson, be it small or large prey items.
