  • Victor Ortiz’s Dilemma: Get outboxed or Force risky exchanges

Victor Ortiz is coming off his best performance to date with his unanimous decision over former undefeated WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto. In a back and forth entertaining fight, Victor pulled himself off the canvas to overwhelm Berto with his speed, power, and constant pressure. He showed the courage so many of his critics said he did not have after quitting in one of his previous fights. Dare we say his performance was beastly?

Up next for Victor is Floyd Mayweather Jr., pound 4 pound the best boxer of his era. He is a defensive specialist with superb counterpunching ability. The effort most fighters use trying to land a punch on him usually wears them down while he sits in the pocket relaxed waiting for that window of opportunity to open so he can throw lead right hands and counter check left hooks. With lightning hand speed and extremely long arms for his height, he has no problem with keeping an opponent at bay with his jab when he decides to use it. He’s one of the hardest boxers to defeat because his boxing IQ is off the charts and his conditioning is second to none.
