I'm a moderator and I take violence against women extremely seriously. So does the rest of our staff, who I might add, also didn't remove this thread.

Why? Because it's a topic of conversation that's being discussed heavily in the news. Conversation creates debate, debate creates awareness, awareness leads to change.

Following you particularly nutty train of thought - Any thread on any site that discusses violence against women should be immediately removed.

Only, if you remove such conversations from the internet and news media then people stop being aware of it's existence, and then nothing ever changes, does it?

In a weird way, your overly-aggressive stance on this issue is beneficial only to those who victimize women.

How you choose to address a matter is for you alone to determine, I'm not you so don't expect to approach a situation as you would, seriously that takes zero time to understand, We're two different people. I reacted the way I did because I have two daughters, one of which is with a young man of questionable character, so as a dad I react as that.

You're obviously a father with daughters and you choose to behave differently than I do, okay but don't ask me to bury my head in the sand and say nothing.

This is a boxing site dude, B-O-X-I-N-G. What I get very tired of are "fans" that hate on Mayweather for reasons that have nothing to do with the sport, they drag whatever animus they have in other areas and choke up discussions here. That really bugs me. You'll get guys who take time to really explain a fighter's technique and so forth only to be rebutted with childish language and or behavior.

Oh, and I wouldn't want to become a Mod here on a dare. When I was moderating on a different site I sent my fellow Mods a link to this site and they were pretty stunned with the stuff that gets through here. I love boxing so I stick around that's about it. I have no grand plans beyond that doofus.....

Thanks for moderating this site, its a beast of a job no doubt, or maybe its a peice of cake dunno. That aside, your post is utterly ridiculous. Where in this thread is what you're saying accomplished, please I seriously want to know because a lack of objectivity is a human failing, not just mine, so could you point to something in this thread that remotely suggests that allowing a link to a woman getting choked is instructive and enlightening? And how do I enable people that abuse women, please be specific and don't level a charge at me as a moderator, give me a specific example of how I enable people that harm women, please? Oh because I requested a vile link not be allowed. So by subverting conversation abusers flourish because of me? Me dude?

All I know is the thought of my daughters being abused scares the hell out of me.

One of my daughters was seriously contemplating going into the military and I had to get really tough with her about that just based on what we've been hearing in the news about sexual assaults. I'm a dad so I say what I feel based on that and I will not hold back on my opinion n matter how useless you think that is friend.

I don't think any thread or post should be removed for whimsical reasons, I don't. What I really want are the young men on this site to be a bit more respectful. I should have phrased that differently, so I made a mistake on that point but my point is the same. I really wonder what sort of men are being raised and what will happen to my daughters as a result. I can't approach this subject with any less passion than I'm displaying. If that makes me a bad member then I don't know.

I realize I already kicked up enough of a fuss.....

Let's just skip the formalities and get on with it.

I would, if that were the point I was arguing. But it's not. So I won't.

I never accused you of enabling the abuse of women. I was following your particularly foolish line of thought on this matter that all discussions regarding abuse of women should, apparently, be smothered and extinguished because "I have daughters."

It's not an exceptional leap of faith for one to assume that, given the way you reacted within this one (rather benign) conversation regarding a famous chef being choked with cries of misogyny and bad moderation, that if given complete control on the reporting of such events said events would go unreported.

Why? "Because I have daughters!"

As well it should. Being protective is the sign of a good father, so I commend you on that, but I will not alter my moderation style simply because topics like this make you uncomfortable. The only opinions I remove are racist ones, and the only threads I delete are threads which are in direct violation of forum rules, which this thread most certainly is not.

I'd rather they be more educated, but ultimately I think we have similar feelings on this topic. But that's the internet for you, this place in particular is a pretty bad place to discuss issues regarding women, as at least 60%of the site have never even kissed one, and the other 30% are teenaged boys who think that anytime a girl takes a picture of herself at the beach she's "acting like a whore."

The other 10% are the intelligent guys with respectful attitudes towards women.

I think that's a natural thought. Especially when confronted with the seemingly endless stream of blatantly misogynistic bull***** that's espoused online by male youths who go unchecked and high-five one another over their comments. That's where you come in as the parent, though. It's your responsibility to make sure that whoever your daughter dates is mature, responsible, and respectful.

I wouldn't call you a "bad member", either. Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot, but I do respect your opinion, and welcome you into the fold. Don't let the twits ruin the experience for you. Hold their feet to the fire and have a healthy debate about it.

Holy Christ and Harikrishna let me unravel some of my crap. These paragraphs are completely reasonable to me, But I can't gloss over the "sign of the good father" part because that's all that I'm trying to be.

I helped get my daughter a car several weeks ago, the day after I cosigned I got in an automobile accident with a kid my daughter's age. The day after my daughter bought her first car, ugh. This kid I hit was so scared, she was shaking like a leaf. My first thought was I hope if my daughter gets hit, whomever is involved will be kind at least.

I'm sorry I understand your perspective a lot better now.

Nigella Lawson started her relationship with Saatchi WHILE her former husband was dying of cancer. I know if I was married with kids and my wife was dying of cancer there is NO WAY I could do that or would want to do that.
What goes round comes round and in this case I suspect neither are very nice people.

To be fair though, I'm not sure readers of The Mirror website are the kind of people who go searching for the material you mention. Would you prefer Newspapers to just ignore acts like this all together? As I've already said, when shocking things happen to high profile people it raises a bit of awareness or at least invokes thought (when celebs get cancer or whatever). I think it's sensible to get the images out there so people have a deeper think about it.

What goes round comes round and in this case I suspect neither are very nice people.
Is this really true? That's disgusting...
She looks old and ugly now, btw...
