  • Comments Thread For: Beltran: I'm Ready For The Most Dangerous Ricky Burns

Raymundo Beltran is ready to face the best of Ricky Burns when he challenges the Scotsman for the WBO World lightweight title at the SECC in Glasgow live on Sky Sports on September 7.

The Mexican is Burns’ fourth defence of the title and the champion will be under pressure to perform after a heart-stopping fight in the city in May when Jose Gonzalez threatened to end his reign before retiring ahead of the tenth round against the Coatbridge star.

Burns has promised his fans that there will be no repeat of the drama at the Emirates Arena, where Gonzalez hurt him in the seventh and looked to have the 31 year old beaten, with Beltran saying that fight will have no bearing on their clash. [Click Here To Read More]

Ray Beltran is already down 2points on the Judges scorecards and will need to pitch a shutout to beat Ricky Burns in Scotland. I truly believe that Beltran will work over Ricky Burns but will get robbed without a Knockout. After David Price and Nathan Cleverly were badly exposed as the UKs version of Jeff Lacy, its going to be hard for a foreign fighter to get a decision in the UK. Can Beltran Knockout Ricky Burns? Not sure but Beltran will have every Mexican rooting for him on Sept 7th.

In his last fight in scotland Jose Gonzalez was officially ahead by 3 points at the time he quit on all 3 scorecards, the judges are not as biased as you are talking about and Burns has never had or needed a gift hometown decision , never, so it is irrelivant.

Real talk! Burns never gets any credit, even after he shuts Beltran down he won't get the props he deserves. The thing is, especially on this board, boxing fans don't seem to respect or give credit to fighters who aren't 'elite', pound-for-pounders. Burns is a very solid, very tough world-class fighter. People keep talking about his last fight, but Chelo Gonzalez happened to be very skilled.

It's not disrespecting Burns to think this is gonna be a tough fight for him. Beltran is good, as good as any Burns opponent so far.

This is a tough pick cause Beltran is very solid though Burns is a slightly better Boxer.
