  • Canelo never offered GGG a fight at 155.

Why do Golovkin haters tend to blame him for not accepting to fight Canelo at 155 for that huge money fight?

As far as we know from all the interviews and team statements, they never countered any offer from GGG's team stating weight concerns let alone making an offer by themselves. We have heard from Canelo saying that he'll fight GGG at 160. We have heard from Oscar that the reason this fight isnt happening because apparently it needs time to grow more. Not a single time they we have heard that its not happening because GGG is not coming down to 155.

Point is, they never intended to fight GGG irrespective of money or weight advantage they could have had.

Weight was never an issue, Canela's cowardliness and lack of balls was.

And who are we kidding, at this point of time Canelo won't even fight GGG if here to comedown in weight.

GoldenBoy always excused the delay as marination, you know the story behind it.

You're right. It is a dumb argument but Golovkin haters have proven they will say absolutely anything to discredit him.

Canelo has already said that he will most likely fight at 160 next (not against Golovkin)...so that "argument" should be retired.

I think Golovkin would've fought Canelo at a catch weight (maybe not 155) if Canelo actually was serious about the fight.

Canelo team said he wasn't a 160 fighter, Golokins side said they wouldn't fight below 160. Why would Canelo's side make an offer below 160 after Golovkin already said he wouldn't accept it?

It was a myth. Ward's supposed famous offer to fight GGG at 168 pounds was likewise a myth. Ward never made GGG a genuine written offer to fight him at 168 pounds. In the real world of multi million dollar fights written legally binding offers are the only offers that matter. Call outs in the media are meaningless. At the time Ward was calling out GGG in the media GGG was legally contracted to fight Lemieux and couldn't fight Ward. Ward had no intention of fighting GGG or anyone else at 168 because he had outgrown that weight class. His last fight before calling out GGG was at a catchweight of 172 and his 168 pound days were history. Oscar was afraid to risk Canelo against GGG at any weight until GGG got older and slower. All that talk of the fight marinating was a BS excuse.Oscar wants to put the fight off until late 2017 so GGG will be a year and one half older and Canelo will be stronger and more experienced than ever.

It doesn't even matter. They're not fighting anytime soon, so why beat a dead horse. Fights off and lost its steam. We'll see if it picks back up, but for whatever reasons it didn't get made and you can place blame wherever you see fit.

Using this logic Golovkin never offered to fight Froch, Saunders, Jacobs etc.
