It think this has a lot to do with that May date next year. Canelo keeps insisting that he wants to fight on that date, and that will be the final nail in he coffin of the Mayweather and Golden Boy relationship. Mayweather will have all the Haymon fighters, and when SMS promotions folds he will probably take those fighters too. Mikey Garcia is going to be a free agent, along with Chavez Jr., and Guillermo Rigondeaux is available (Not sure what Wards contract is looking like or how long he will be out for). In the next few years TMT may become that top promoter in the business.

floyd and manny are the two biggest names in boxing. if little promotional outfits like goosen and kathy duva main events can get promotional license why cant floyd? if stupid ass oscar can get a license so can floyd with the backing of al haymon.

sponsors are almost always public companies, fortune 500 companies, publicly traded companies. they are careful to who they sponsor and align themselves with. there's a reason why the fake clean guy image pacquiao has a nike deal and the person who is an ex convict with multiple violent assault cases against women among other things doesnt despite the fact that he's been #1 in the game for awhile.

there's a reason why it took this long for floyd to finally get a license.
You're thinking too much. A LOT of big businessmen have dirt in their backgrounds. Look at Oscar and Don King's backgrounds. These companies want to be apart of the biggest events and when it comes to boxing, Mayweather events are the biggest. I repeat if they need sponsorships, they'll get them.

On how long it took Mayweather Promotions to get a license, have you heard of them getting denied one in the past?
