The Muslims invaded Europe in the year 711, many generations before the Crusades... The Crusades were largely a response to Islamic threats.... The Muslims were not completely expelled ( with the exception of the Balkans) until the year 1400, after the Crusades were finished...

This was a domestic dispute according to the article... The man was very upset with his wife for taking custody of their son, then went Postal....

Even if he was a Christian it would be completely inconsequential because his motive was revenge for his former spouse taking their son....
