This isn't some once great athlete that's over the hill. He's just a mediocre boxer with some power in his hands. There is only so much Wolfe has to work with.

Kirkland is who he is because of how terrible Wolf is as a trainer. I think it's so funny that people see her as some great trainer. All she does is destroy her fighters in the gym. Kirkland has no skill, no speed, and a bad chin. He used to have a chin and more speed, but he is so broken down from Wolf's brutal camps that he is shot.
