  • Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson: Joshua Not Impressive in Last Fight, Wilder Improving

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was not impressed with the last performance by IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO champion Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs). Last month, Joshua went the distance for the first time in his career when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Joseph Parker to unify four world titles before a crowd of nearly 80,000 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Yea, but you could see the way he said it in the interview, that Mike still thinks Wilder's a ponk.

The interview suggested he still thinks Joshua will win or has a good chance of doing so. Can’t really argue with too much; Joshua has turned his last couple of fights into more technical fights; winning most the rounds - rather than dig wars.

Tyson is right. It was such a dull fight. When Tyson went 12 rounds he still punished his opponents and did everything he could to take them out. AJ looked terrified of being hit and every time Parker landed he froze as if he expected his legs to fall under him. He won't be able to peck his way to a decision victory against Wilder. What Wilder lacks in skill he makes up for in heart and killer instinct. AJ has neither.

Hoping it happens in the US so the UK judges dont have so much impact on the actual fight.
The reffing in Lara/Hurd was perfect.
The reff let it go and was only their to call on the correct decisions to keep the fight moving.
The reff in the AJ/Parker ruined the fight imo.

I heard the interview, Tyson was being nice but you could tell doesn't think too highly of either guys. This guy's era included Larry Holmes, Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Bowe, ect. so it's understable, probably views Wilder and AJ as bums.

Judges are probably worse in america. The referee wasn’t English, and agree he was awful - stopping both fighters getting their inside game working.

I’m not sure who they would agree to referee wilder Joshua, I don’t think having an English ref would actually be a hinderance at all (I can understand 1 uk, 1 USA, 1 neutral judge). I suspect they would end up agreeing a neutral ref though - hopefully not a similar one!

In his last fight, Joshua dominated a young world champion..in his last fight wilder basically got knocked out on his feet by a 60 year old man..

Why do AJ flunkies keep making fun of Ortiz age. Wlad is older and coming off an loss and two year layoff. And still managed to put prime AJ on his ass. he needed a war to survive the senile Wladimir. Pathetic.

and the word "dominate" belongs nowhere near the AJ/Parker fight. It was a dull flat performance from both. Parker's feints kept AJ frozen and hesitant. and every time Parker even grazed his chin it affected him. When Wilder taps that spot AJ's chin gonna evaporate.
