Religious people don't just hold their religion to different standards than science, they hold them to opposite standards. If science gets something wrong then this is used to declare that science cannot be trusted. Conversely if religion gets something right then we are instructed to assume that everything about that religion is therefore right. An example used by creationists is something like Piltdown Man, a hoax perpetrated against scientists (and uncovered by scientists). But then you'll have Enayze saying "Well the existence of David has been confirmed by professor XYZ therefore Noah collected two of every animal and put them on a huge wooden boat".

The topic is about the historicity of the Exodus from Egypt as depicted in the bible. You did not provide evidence of that. You provided evidence that the Israelites had historical and prehistoric antecedents. That's not the same thing. In fact if the Israelites had just popped into existence from nowhere that would be at least as astonishing as the more mental stories in the bible.

Two examples of historical inaccuracy in the bible:

    1. A global flood
    2. God stopping the sun from moving around the earth so that Joshua could knock down the walls with trumpets

Why did these not happen? Because they can't! They are absurd!
I recall watching a PBS documentary claiming that the Israelites, based on new evidence, were in fact an offshoot of the Canaanites who rebelled against their rulers and formed a new monotheistic religion (Judaism) in order to legitimize their existence. It pretty much bebunks the biblical stories of Noah, Moses, and all the Israelite conquests.

Well yeah, there's very little objection to the notion that the Israelites were a subgroup of Canaanites who worshiped El and developed their own distinct culture. The biblical account is very different to archaeological reality.

        1. A global flood is supported by many stories in various cultures throughout the world. The formation of the world today, the Woolly Mammoths being frozen in place, a lot of evidence points to the flood, you just choose to ignore it, or accept a different explanation based on your atheistic view point.

        2. As for God stopping the sun, that cannot be disproved or proved at the present moment. And Joshua knocking down walls through noise vibration is pretty provable, especially when opera singers are known to crack glass.

        Two weak examples.

            A global flood is

            A. Impossible and
            B. Unsupported by any evidence.

Any bullshit evidence proposed by creationists is easily destroyed in seconds and you know it. The only way you could possibly think that the story of Noah's ark is true is if you are a complete lunatic.

            2. As for God stopping the sun, that cannot be disproved or proved at the present moment.
Yes it can. As we know the sun does not move around the earth. The earth rotates. So god would not be stopping the sun, he would be halting the movement of the earth. The earth rotates at a speed of 1,674 kph at the equator. When "god" stopped this rotation momentum would keep everything on the planet moving at the same speed which would result in tremendous destructive power as everything not nailed down would crash into everything that was nailed down. It would wipe out most life on the planet and overall be a considerably more efficient means of controlling the population than the stupid flood.

Considering that almost all life did not get killed in a huge squishing incident we can deduce that "god" did not "stop the sun". It's almost as though the writers of this story didn't know that the earth orbits the sun and days are caused by the earth's rotation. In fact one might almost suspect that they thought the sun was small relative to the earth. But that would be ridiculous, right? How could the divinely inspired book of the omniscient god get such a basic fact about reality so wrong.

And Joshua knocking down walls through noise vibration is pretty provable, especially when opera singers are known to crack glass.
This isn't the first time that you've tried to pull this sort of shit. You did the same with the Noah story where you talked about how the animals on the Ark were representative of "kinds" from which all modern organisms evolved (according to their kind) and that's why they could all fit on a relatively small wooden boat. As if explaining the stupidity of fitting two of every animal on a small wooden ship somehow made the rest of the absurdities go away.

Besides which, at the time the city was apparently destroyed it had already been deserted and in ruins for 150 years! the bible is full of stupidity.

I just want to revisit this assertion momentarily. A global flood is supported by many stories in various cultures throughout the world. But the global flood story that YOU believe is literally true states that every single culture on earth was wiped out except for that of Noah and his family. So essentially the existence of multiple flood stories is evidence against the global flood you believe in!
