I have to say - and I'm serious when I say this - it's comedy to me the levels going on here.

You got less than successful blacks who just want to argue and fight over some mythical cause, and they stay wanting money, while you got other blacks bathing in money who understand the game and how to play it.

Basically: you got those who want socialism and those that understand capitalism.

This whole thing is NOT a black thing, nor a white thing. It's the money game. Just like Steve said. But these socialist "I should get it because whatever" people don't understand. No, you can't just say no to powerful people without repercussion. No, you can't just do whatever the hell you feel like without ramifications. You're ethically right and procedurally wrong. If that's the way you want to be - losing money but proud - do you.

People have exagerated the Monique situation to somehow relate it to black & white relations in America.

Sorry its just not the case.

Whats happening to Monique is happening to Monique, not to black America. She is having relationship problems with the wrong people for reasons x, y and z. Hollywood works that way, if you fall on certain people's bad side, they dont hire you, and they tell other people to not hire you too. Then those who would hire you, will only do it at a fraction of what your salary used to be.

In Monique's case, what makes it worst is she only had appeal to relatively small fanbase so only a few black directors wanted to work with her in the first place.

Its a dirty game but it is what it is.

Again, she's morally right but procedurally wrong. EIther way, what you should NEVER do is mouth off to those in power just because you're upset or make up a narrative ("blackballed from Hollywood"). She wasn't blackballed from anything. It might have FELT that way because of her refusal to do what she was asked - contractural or not - but how is that any different than the common man?

If I'm a manufacturer that ships widgets to contractors and one of the contractors asks me to ship surplus outside of contract for anticipated demand, I have a choice: I can do it or not. If I don't, that contractor is perfectly within their rights to spread the word to other contractors about me being "difficult to work with". It's a negotiation - and it IS a game. It's always a game. That's what some of these people don't get. It's a game and you play by the rules...or don't. If you don't, you accept what's coming to you.

If people want to call that cooning then so be it. I know this: I didn't get to six figures complaining about how someone treated me. I took the schooling older folks offered me, made my own adjustments as I learned how the game worked. Because ultimately, equality is all about social status, money, etc. Nothing else matters anymore. That's just the truth of it.
