He said he wanted to fight GGG at 157 on an earlier occasion, but GGG didn't just down a catchweight request from Brook, he turned down the whole idea of fighting him, period.

Brook really believed he could beat Golovkin, and he wanted the fight badly, like Mikey did with Spence, but GGG never really wanted to fight Kell.

      Spence is 29.
      Ggg is 37

They both have wins over a shared opponent except spence was the same size as brooks.

Ggg never even fought a smw.
Spence never fought a MW, and nor will he, while there are big fights in his own division and he can still make the weight.

        Sorry ggg didn't beat Canelo.
If Golovkin would have moved up to fight Ward at what a catch weight or at 168?? At 168 he would lose in my opinion. Ward is a dirty fighter and the combination of his size and cheating would have almost guaranteed a loss for Golovkin. Golovkin at +30 years of age can still make 160. Ward had to move up in weight after age 30. Its clear Ward is the significantly bigger man. Go watch the Kessler fight and others that Ward was involved in. At 164 all his detractors would claim that Ward was weight drained. Now after saying all that Ward didn't want the fight at a catch weight and Gennady wasn't prepared to move up to 168. The fight never happened because it was all smoke and mirrors.
