  • The AlexKid 'questions about punchers, chins, hiprotation etc.' superduper thread.

    As your pick.

    ONLY 1

Its like betting hedge your bets on who you think is number 1 and why?

If you think 1 guy had the strongest uppercut one the strongest straight right etc then pick the guy that you guess had the hardest punch period.

My Pick is Earnie Shavers! Since everyone said it, even those that lost to him, and had fought other hard hitters like foreman n lyle. Also most experts agree.

    Tommy Hearns.

By the time you make your next hardest puncher thread I might have changed my mind.

Tillis said Tyson hit harder, so there's that. Boxers usually say anything and everything, but you can't know what is the truth and what's not. Shavers has got this aura "if you choose him as hardest punchers you sound knowledgeable" thing going.

Tyson one-shotted White Buffalo, cracked Golota's cheekbone with one shot, only one to ever floor Pinklon Thomas and Michael Spinks and so on...

Least rounds per fights, and when you consider that Tyson fought harder fighters than Shavers, the data favours Tyson. Shavers didn't KO Holmes, Tyson did, Shavers didn't KD Tillis, Tyson did.

        3.7 Mike Tyson (216/58)
        4.1 Jack Dempsey (283/69)
        4.1 Ernie Shavers (367/89) (non-champion)
        4.2 Riddick Bowe (195/46)
        4.3 George Foreman (349/81)
        4.9 Rocky Marciano (241/49)
        4.9 Sonny Liston (267/54)
        5.0 Vitali Klitschko (235/47)
        5.1 Lennox Lewis (225/44)
        5.3 Wladimir Klitschko (358/68)
        5.4 Max Baer (423/79)
        5.8 Joe Frazier (213/37)
        6.0 Joe Louis (417/69)
        7.6 Evander Holyfield (443/58)
        8.9 Muhammad Ali (548/61)

I would first say Wladimir Klitschko!!!

But this HAS to be qualified I am sorry Alex!!

IT has to be Klitschko due to the size and quality of opponents wasted by his punch and the delivery skills which are necessarily TIED to his body power.

But the TRULY hardest puncher, without regards to delivery skills, who probably couldn't LAND such power as often and who's KO record probably doesn't reflect it at all, atleast against best opponents, the type of guy who beats all on pressure pad tests- this guy for all we know could be some obscure club fighter in some backwater we have never heard of!!!

The only name that comes to mind from all the famous boxers to me is Samuel Peter. As far as I KNOW of I'd say Sam Peter hit the hardest in total, should he land flush.

Maybe, but it totally contradicted your earlier point in this thread.
