It doesn't take a mathematician to see they are not caking.

Ward is not a PPV fighter, his last fight was on BET lol. Imagine what they paid to get him out of contract? they also gave him a bonus to seal the deal.

Taking a loss in your first few years is a normal part of business.

They paid $55 million for him an because it is a cross-promotion deal, Cotto could end up earning over $100 million.

He has one fight left on his contract.

I don't know how much the Canelo vs Cotto fight was worth, but it was hardly anywhere close to Pac vs Floyd in terms of money generated

The purse for Cotto vs Canelo was $20 million

The purse for Floyd vs Pac was $230 million and the fight generated $600 million in revenue

No way they gained any profit they gave out huge contracts over paying to steal guys away from other promoters. Contracts with all kinds of guarantees and bonus money that no other promoter would give. So even on a fight like cotto vs canelo likely didn't make a dime because a lot of the money cotto made came out of roc nations own pockets. They planned on losing money first few years but hoping guys like cotto and ward open the door for them and attract other fighters to sign up as well.

"At 900,000 buys and $58 million in PPV revenue, Cotto-Canelo performed superbly," said HBO senior vice president Mark Taffet, who oversees the network's pay-per-view franchise. "Not since [Lennox] Lewis-[Mike] Tyson in 2002 has a pay-per-view fight generated at least 900,000 buys without featuring [Floyd] Mayweather, [Manny] Pacquiao or [Oscar] De La Hoya.

They desperately wanted to get their foot in the door at the cost of a loss

So they are indeed working at a loss if 58 is all they generated from PPV buys.

Are you a Jay-z fan by any chance?

Roc Nation biggest problem is that they've already got a reputation as hard to deal with and doing bad business. And they signed two divas with a similar reputation. They won't be around long.
