"Definitely. I think a good example is Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video, which we think of as the apex of early music-video style. Michael Jackson wanted Fosse to direct that. It didn’t happen, but you could see what the thinking was."

Its true, I knew about this a few years back, I remember watching Bob Fosse for our Theater and Film study class and some black kids was like that white dude trying to be like MJ.
MJ ripped that entire routine, step for step even the jazz hands and lean.
He should have at least credited Fosse openly, like he credit James BrownLast edited by hectari; 12-11-2016, 02:07 AM.

He stayed tight lipped about Fosse yet it's public knowledge that he wanted Fosse to direct the Thriller video?

Here's Spike Lee talking about his documentary on the 25th Anniversary of the "Bad" album. Listen at the 3:44 mark:
"Michael did not just sit in his ass. He was out there...Bob Fosse. Gene Kelly. Fred Astaire. James Brown. Marvin Gaye. Stevie Wonder.
He was gathering, stirring in greats not just in music. Art. Photography. Dance. And taking all the things that great artists have done in the world and incorporating it into what he did."Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 12-11-2016, 12:11 PM.
