ward was outboxed in both halves. rounds 9,10, and 12 were clear kovalev rounds: landed more, landed cleaner. easy to score. roudns 7 and 11 were toss ups aka in a fanboys mind ward dominated.

ward wasnt penalized because all they headbutts werent exclusively his fault. there were one or two that was completely because of him, but on most occassions they were both coming in with their heads at the same time. kessler being taller and standing up straighter got the worst of it but he wasnt less to blame for the collissions than ward in most instances.

the kovalev fight comes down to opinion. it was a close fight, if you decide to only look at one thing you can say kovalev clearly won but if you judge it as you should you can see there were cases for both fighters.

ppl who dont know boxing might think it was clear kovalev because they dont value ring generalship, defense, body punches etc. but these things score points and they did so primarily in wards favor.

be salty all you want, ward won the fight.

if you decide to only look at punches then yes kovalev won. if you look at other things then sure it was close?

body punches...sure ward landed some good body shots(so did kovalev which you ignore) but a lot of wards body shots werent legal. so you are saying people who know boxing count low blows, holding and hitting, and little taps as clean body punching?
