Some would say that when a fighter fights in another weight class, the title is vacated...like when canelo fought smith. According to people who follow that line of thinking, he won it again by beating ggg in the 2nd fight.

Others would say that the lineage isn’t broken until a fighter loses it in the ring. Aside from the obvious issues with the “lineal title”, people can’t even agree on what the rules are for title lineage.
