What's the value of watching this when real boxing matches are available?

I think it's for anime fans firstly, and has the bonus of being about boxing.
I'm an anime fan but have a hard time getting into this one. The fight scenes are too long and have no real value in terms of boxing (too silly and exaggerated) but my wife, who knows some boxing basics, loves it.

I love a few of the Rocky films because they have interesting characters and stories. The fact they're about boxing makes them cool but I don't consider the boxing action to be particularly interesting. I wish Hajime had stronger stories and characters.
