According to Giuliani, Trump said to pay her with a cheque instead of cash, so it could be documented properly. Ultimately, it appears no payment was ever made.

It is just another example of how Trump calls every story he doesn't like "fake news." And how he continually lies about literally every thing to the public. Another example of how no one can believe anything he says.

Though, this could very well be another illegal campaign contribution. Which is the main reason it is in the news. If a tabloid bought it for a "catch & kill" to keep a negative story out of the news to help Trump, that has to be reported as a campaign contribution. And this recording apparently shows that Trump knew about this payment and never listed it on his campaign forms. Which is illegal.

But you know, the laws are just more "fake news". I mean they are real, but if Trump breaks them it is fake news. Still, I don't think a judge will let him go, just because he calls it fake. His supporters will, but not any judge.

Also, payments were made. That is a matter of fact.

By fake news, Trump simply means it is a story he doesn't like. He doesn't mean it isn't real, just that he doesn't like it. And this news of the recording fits that criteria. So this is just even more "fake news". They know that it is factually correct, but it paints the president in a bad light, so they label it "fake news."

The National Enquirer even sent copies of any story about Trump they were going to run to Cohen first, so he could tell them not to run it, or make any changes to it he wanted. But the National Enquirer isn't fake news. Trump even repeated the story about Ted Cruz's dad killing JFK many times. He never called it fake news. Because it does not fit his definition of fake news. It helped him, so even though it was complete fiction, it was "real" news to Trump and his supporters.

The New York Times reported Friday that President Trump’s longtime personal fixer and attorney, Michael Cohen, secretly recorded a conversation with Trump about payments made two months before the 2016 presidential election to a Playboy model who said she had an affair with Trump in 2006.


Federal agents seized the tape earlier this year during raids on Cohen’s properties, the paper said, amid a Justice Department investigation into Cohen’s involvement with payments made to women to muffle potentially damaging stories in the midst of the campaign.


Trump’s new lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, confirmed the existence of the tapes to the Times but downplayed their significance, insisting: “Nothing in that conversation suggests that he had any knowledge of it in advance.”
The Times’ bombshell comes at a pivotal time for Cohen, who spent a decade at Trump’s side and once styled himself as Trump’s most doggedly loyal lieutenant. But Cohen has been sending signals lately, amid an investigation into his business affairs, that he may be prepared to share everything he knows with investigators, including potentially revealing information about Trump.

The model, Karen McDougal, has said she had an affair with Trump before selling the rights to her story to The National Enquirer for $150,000 during the waning months of the presidential campaign.
But the paper, which is run by longtime Trump friend David Pecker, never ran the story, effectively keeping it silent.
Confirmation of the tape’s existence follows months of swirling speculation over whether Cohen recorded his conversations with Trump and others.

EXACTLY!!! I'm glad somebody else know what the hell is going on and the relationship between Trump and the National Enquirer. They're the ones who bought this lady story so she couldn't tell it to anyone else. They never ran her story.
