You can believe what you want to mate. But ask yourself why he starved himself to make SMW in order to defend a lightly regarded title for 10 years, instead of moving up to LHW to try and fight the likes of Roy.
Ask yourself why he said the following:
1999: "I'm not chasing Roy Jones. I don't want tough fights"
2003: "I'd need the 'crown jewels' to face Roy due to the element of risk involved.
Joe was with Showtime for a short period in the late 90's/early 00's, and they wanted him to move up to LHW and fight in the U.S. but he wasn't interested.
We both know why that was.
Joe had a lot of great attributes and he was awkward. But he never possessed the mental strength to have targeted a prime version of Roy. He only fought him in 2008 because he knew that he was easy pickings.

It was his biggest flaw.
Everyone knows that.
He was always susceptible to right hands, all throughout his career. I was a fan of his when I was younger, and I watched every single fight of his, from 1996 onwards.
There is nothing remotely laughable about that statement. And it's actually making me wonder how many fights of his you have seen.

- -Zimmy, Joe did just fine considering he was stuck under the contractual thumb of Warren who ruled boxing like never seen in those isles.
Prime Popkins paid a $2mil judgement to Dibella to skip out of his contract to face SuperJoe. As soon as he could, he came to the US to humiliate Popkins and carve up Roy like a turkey when they were still highly ranked.
What, you was in diapers then? OK then!!!

Ha!
Yeah, okay mate.
I'm sure Frank held a gun to his head and literally forced him to keep signing contract extensions.
Please!
I lived through the era. Joe killed himself to make weight to fight in a weak division, and he blew his Showtime contract because he wouldn't fight in the U.S. to raise his profile. He's also on record stating how proud he was of his number of WBO defences.
Don't imply that he wanted the bigger fights earlier but he couldn't get them. No. That's not what happened at all. It was his choice to spend 14 years at SMW with Frank W. The guy was happy to fight guys like Salem, Veit, Mkrtchyan and Ashira etc, even when he was in his 30's.
Saying that he moved up and fought in the U.S. as soon as he could is an absolute joke.

Still, it's Roy's fault for making the agreement. It's his fault for settling on the ropes. And it's his fault for never rebounding.
It's excessive and unfair to say Roy was exposed. But that's about 75% of what happened.
