Maybe but I doubt it. Without any guarantee of a mandatory shot Hearn won't risk Whyte vs Ortiz.

Epic Sports entertainment could be out of their league here. They've never promoted anything this big, they did Mayorga's last fight this year and that promotion looked cheap as anything, the whole ring was so bad it shook every time the boxers moved.

Also without Hearn or Kalle or a stable of fighters we can expect the undercard to be truly awful.

And how does this effect the exclusive Matchroom/Sky deal. if Epic sells the fight to another UK network? Would Whyte have to pull out if it's not on Sky?

The deal with sky is matchroom not Whyte.

But let’s be real, Whyte could face aj as a voluntary anyway so being the mandatory won’t mean too much to eddie Hearn, the wbc mandatory would have meant more if wbc weren’t playing games for wilder.

This actually will put wbc in a harder position if the fight doesn’t happen as wbc were probably hoping this happened so they could drop Whyte from their rankings and get out of the **** they put themselves in

Comments Thread For: Whyte-Pulev: Surprise Bidder Beats Hearn, Sauerland For Rights

A surprise bidder beat out the promoters of Dillian Whyte and Kubrat Pulev on Thursday to earn the right to promote their IBF-mandated heavyweight elimination match. Epic Sports & Entertainment, a New York-based company that's new to the boxing business, submitted the winning offer of $1,500,111 during a purse bid at the IBF's headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey. The company, with which longtime boxing attorney John Wirt is involved, easily surpassed the offers submitted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing (Whyte) and Team Sauerland (Pulev).

Why should he fight Ortiz to become second mandatory when he can fight Pulev and become mandatory for Joshua belts.

Hearn blew it on this one. Dillian's fight always draw decent interest.

Pulev will be a good mandatory defence foe AJ after Povetkin, two fights to keep him busy until he faces Wilder.

Pulev's claiming victory, assume the fights going to Bulgaria. Sky will get the fight surely?

Joshua and Whyte are not friends so why would Joshua give him voluntary?
