I've have no guns, I don't want one either.. But the 2nd amendment gives me the right to own guns should I choose.... This amendment was specifically designed to protect the people from potential tyrannical government and was also designed to help protect America from foreign invaders....

Our revolutionary War against England was faught by armed citizens who became soldiers for our cause... Those guns were personally owned by private citizens... We would have no USA if not for armed citizens...
The authors of the Constitution of the United States knew what they were doing when they created this amendment....

Nazi Germany, first drew up laws to disarm the people... Then brutally forced it's will upon the people...

Liberal law makers today still research those laws written by Nazi Germany while wording anti gun legislation...

      This is America... Stay strong....

Man I'm pro-gun but sometimes listening to stupid conservatives speak about the gun issue makes me cringe. "To blame assault weapons for these tragedies would be like blaming airplanes for the 9/11 attacks." Yea because any American can just go to the plane store and buy a 747. Most of these morons aren't capable of making reasonable and logical arguments. Conservative America needs smarter people representing us.

You do realise that it ended over 150 years ago, right?

[QUOTE=!! Anorak;16840816]You do realise that it ended over 150 years ago, right?

            Confusing facts, are we ???
No, Slavery ended over 150 years ago... The Constitution was written in 1787 the 2nd amendment was passed 1789, that's over 225 years ago...

The point ? Are you suggesting,
We don't need to protect ourselves because we can Trust our government now and in the future to a certainty ???

That America will never be invaded by a foreign power to a certainty ???

You must have tremendous Faith In A system that is continuously changing...

Do you have faith that years down the road, the American people won't be in a situation where the guns of citizens would help detour a foreign invasion or perhaps tips the balance in our favor after a invasion ???

Do you have faith that socialist might not become, well socialists ???
The USSR was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic... Socialism is communism...
After the communist disarm the people, they dictate with absolute Authority all aspects of their lives with the punishment up to death...
The wealth of the Nation is spread out amongst the party's leadership and their cronies....

            The 2nd amendment...
This provision was created to give the American people the ability to protect themselves and their families and potentially their country if need be...
The Constitution guarantees us the right to defend and protect ourselves...
That right is as important today as is was then... It's not a matter of opinion, it's a guaranteed right of freedom...

While technically true in point, your post isn't nearly nuanced enough. Granted I didn't expect a post from a guy who jacks off to pictures of M16s and reckons he's Dirty Harry to be big on nuance, but still : You make it sound as if our Army during the Revolutionary War was just a bunch of private citizens who also happened to have a rifle.

                It wasn't.

They were all members of militias. They underwent rigorous combat training with and without firearms not entirely dissimilar from what our current Army does in basic training. They were organized in to platoons and had a rigidly structured chain of command also not dissimilar to our modern Armed Forces. They were well versed in guerilla warfare tactics and first aid techniques.

It wasn't just a bunch of disorganized Cheeto eating yokels with muskets, bald heads, ****ty goatees, and barbed wire armband tattoos (that don't even go around the inside of the bicep because it hurts too much, mind you) that saved the day during our revolution.

If I was a scientist I'd be an evil scientist & I'd invent a robot that went around listening to all conversations in the US & anyone who said "liberal" or "conservative" the robot would murder in their sleep & make it look like a natural death. I think the US would be a better country within 6-12 months.

What's your motto DON'T LET THE FACTS GET IN THE WAY OF A GOOD STORY ???

If you actually read my whole post, you must either have delusional memory or have a agenda...

If neither then Really, what a imagination !!!
You should write fiction or try your hand at Abstract Art ....

In my opening statement I said that I don't own any guns and don't plan on owning any guns...

You somehow interpreted that to be someone who plays around while looking at posters of M16s while fantasizing about being a Dirty Harry ??? I cringe at what you might conclude about those who actually do own guns ???

If I had your imagination, what could I conclude about you from your statement with equal vision ???

How about comparing you to Adolf Hitler (Gun control champion) or Joseph Stalin (Socialist champion)???
                    But enough with that..

The facts, you really want to go there?? OK...
THE BRITISH IMPOSED GUN CONTROL LAWS ON THE COLONIES !!!
                    Read this for starters...
Administrative and Regulatory Law News (AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION). Vol. 37 , no. 4 summer 1212.
                    In short..
The Brithish impose the 1774 import ban on firearms and gunpowder... The 1774-75 CONFISCATIONS of firearms and gunpowder, and the use of violence to effectuate the confiscations... These actions caused tension that turned into a shooting War... THIS IS ONE REASON THE 2ND AMENDMENT WAS PASSED TO BEGIN WITH...

The colonial revolutionaries DID NOT HAVE A ARMY... Each of the 13 colonies had their own militia made up of Citizens who were part-timers... Then each Colony raised regiments from its citizens for defense....

All Colonial soldiers started out as either part time citizen militia or citizen, using there own guns and guns confiscated from the British during battles....
Of course if they were trained after entry..

My point was dead on, but thanks to your need for nuance we've expanded the point...
NOW OUR READERS CAN RESEARCH THE BRITISH IMPOSED GUN CONTROL LAWS AND VIOLENT CONFISCATIONS IN 1774 & 1775 ...

You sir, are a credit to your cause... Well Done ...
