  • Why do people think that sugar ray Robinson is the best?

Be honest to you. I don't see anything special about his style. He ain't fast, he fought like mosley, throwing flurry of unecessary combination just to look fast in a black and white screen. I mean sure. His style may be was new back in those days and others back then may not know how to deal wif it, but no one uses that style anymore and any ****** that used it would get their ass beaten like a hoe.

So much people overrate him, Pacquiao, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, and Mayweather beat him easily

not fast? watch him in his prime, at WW or LW even.

robinson was a complete fighter. tremendous hand and foot speed, great reflexes, brutal power in both hands, iron chin, tough as nails, great timing and precision, great skills in general.. could box or fight, lead or counter, effective at any range and at any pace..

he was one of the best if not the best to ever do it. doesnt dazzle you in too many areas but really had no weaknesses in his prime. he was smart enough to find the way to win, tough enough to walk it no matter what and skillfull and talented enough to pull it off.

        tremendous fighter.

You can always evaluate the posters here when they degrade and insult! They never know anything about the techniques or methodology of the sport. They just yak to hear themselves.

A very simple observation to consider is that Robinson could take two stewps back and be able to knock out his opponent with either hand. Who today can step off and punch with both hands?
Mayweather & Pacman would be brutally KO'd by Sugarman, they have no power to keep him respectful.
Ray Leonard would go rounds because he's close to Sugars height & reach and has athletic ability that none of the others possess.
Hearns would also be KO"d because he simply doesn't have the chin to stand in with Robinson and he would try! Remember Hagler

Try studing the names on Robinsons record and compare them to the current era. Robinson fought ATG's, then rematched them repeatedly.
His idea of a vacation was to take his pink Cadillac to Europe for 7 weeks! Fight ONCE a week and finish the vacation against Europe's greatest fighter! He would loose a decision and middleweight title but rematch the man weeks later and KO him!
Who the hell does that today????? Mayweather? hahahaha
If you think Mayweather would get in the ring against Sugar Ray Robinson you have no idea who Sugar was and you haven't paid attention to how lil' Floyd picks his opponents.

This isn't nostalgia sonny it's evaluating talents and understanding desire and willingness. You have no education on
any of the intangibles I'm talking about.

          Ray

When Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather and almost every person that knows boxing, calls Ray the man to look up, why would you discredit him?.

Muhammad Ali is even worse, brah. The dude knows only to circle to his left, don't know how to fight in the inside, and throw jabs using his palms at times... in today's boxing Ali would've been smoked
