Walt was a businessman first and foremost. There was good money in anti-Nazi propaganda by the time the yanks got involved.

If Hitler had been any sort of general he would have conquered Western Europe long before the Yanks had got involved.

The Americans didn't stop the Nazi war machine. Hitler fucked it up big time by stopping the push against Britain and turning on the Soviets. American bombers enabled the allies to keep up a night-and-day onslaught on Germany and keep the Wehrmacht pressured. By D-Day the Germans were already messing up in Russia.

The US could not have pulled off D Day without the British and Canadians, not to mention being unable to campaign simultaneously in Africa and Burma, and the US certainly did not have the pilots to be able to bomb German cities day and night.

My point being that the allies all depended on each other to overwhelm the Axis. The US provided machinery and funds, the Soviets provided unlimited manpower, the British provided the leadership and resolve, the sacrifices were made by all, and if one were missing then things would have turned out differently.

And if Hitler was any kind of general then the Allies were screwed anyway. If Hitler had destroyed the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk, and continued bombing munitions factories and airstrips they could have maintained air and sea superiority for a land invasion, secured Britain quickly as the Blitzkrieg would take little time to cut our tiny island to pieces, then pushed out to the East and fought the commies. Europe would be in German hands before 1941 and I don't think that the Yanks would have allied themselves to the Soviets if it wasn't for the British. Russia would become a common enemy.

Scary stuff. And not hilarious at all.
