Underrated corner speech by Sr., Floyd needed that, Pac had two decent rounds at that point. Floyd was obviously timid and I don't think there's is anything wrong with that, fear can be a motivator if channeled properly.
I wonder if there was ever a time where he was staring across the ring and thinking to himself ..."I'm fighting Manny ****ing Pac" and if Pac thought the same. They seemed to fight like that at times.Last edited by LA_2_Vegas; 12-22-2015, 07:49 PM.

They both were nervous probably because it had a 5 year build up and pacquiao just got KTFO 3 years ago.
They probably wouldn't have fought like that 5 years ago.

And i don't think it was one way traffic, i believe both guys were apprehensive to lose to each other because of the stage it was on and the talk for years about who is the best.
It's the same reason i believe Khan has never been keen to face Brook. If Khan loses to Kell Brook at Wembley stadium with the whole nation watching, it's a lot more damaging then if he had lost to Alexander or something, even though Brook is a much better fighter. I don't believe Khan fears being in the ring with anybody at all, but fears losing to that certain fighter because of the consequences.
So i never felt Floyd was afraid to actually fight Pacquiao, just the consequences of losing that particular fight on that scale would have been so damaging. Pacquiao losing is bad for him but he lost in recent years anyway and Floyd was favourite and undefeated and was the villain in the eyes of the general public, he had way more to lose.
Good point...

Floyd is still afraid of Manny, showed in the fight where he basically fought to survive rather than win.
Fight should have happened in 2010.

A health amount of fear is useful, there's a reason why we evolved to experience it, and i can't imagine Mayweather being immune. Mayweather respected Pacquiao and his power more then necessary in my opinion, Pacquiao at his best was a volume puncher that would wear you down more than a one punch ko artist so once he shut down his offense in round one he was in complete control.

His dad had somehow convinced himself that the punches that weren't landing for Manny would be scored in his favor anyway. Floyd Jr. said as much after the fight while still trying to be respectful. Remember directly after the fight when it was obvious who won, the only thing Floyd Sr. could do was make some kind of weird raspy noises, I think he was saying he loved him, but it was clear he was embarrassed. Floyd had the fight well in hand from the opening bell and PAC knew it.Last edited by AllEyesOpen; 12-22-2015, 08:11 PM.
