He needs a good introduction fight to AMerica fans I don't know why in Texas though. Maybe it's a long term strategy. I think Haymon is aiming to make LSC vs Mares fight and he wants to match up Frampton against the winner of that one therefore he introduce him the latin-american crowd not the Boston/NY, etc... one so Frampton's name will be more well known amongst latino fans --> Mares/LSC vs Frampton will be bigger.
And I guess after that he will sign Rigo in September, gets him a same type of tune up and then he will math him with the winner of Frampton vs LSC/Mares.
It would be good if this would come through.
I think Mares will probably beat Santa Cruz and he'll blame it on the weight, then move back down and be forced to finally get in the ring with Frampton.

Not if he smashes this guy to bits which he should without breaking a sweat.

They can be slow to update. One time IBF didn't update their rankings for 2 months earlier this year

Texas still makes absolutely no sense..... not like he hasn't done a show in Boston before... and K9/Charlo as the undercard? Does he expect Gonazlez's fans to cross the border to watch?

Smashing the guy in 3 or less would free him up

Carl Frampton’s debut in the United States—and under the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) banner—will take place on July 18 at Don Haskins Center in the bordertown El Paso, Texas. The unbeaten junior featherweight titlist will be making the second defense of his belt as he faces Mexico’s Alejandro Gonzalez Jr.

The bout will air live on CBS during Saturday afternoon coverage. In supporting capacity, Cornelius Bundrage defends his 154 lb. title versus unbeaten Houston native Jermall Charlo.
