  • Sor Rungvisai won clearly, Gonzalez never was the #1 of the world.

It was a close fight but it was clear that he won, people needs rewatch the fight again.
    Rungvisai won:

    1
    2
    4
    7
    9
    10
    11

    114- 112 to Sor Rungvisai.

Gonzalez never was the #1 of the world, never.

-He lacks of rivals of elite level(only 3 in all his career: Estrada in 108 pounds, Cuadras and Sor Rungvisai, never was clear).

-Good ofensive skills but A S.H.I.T OF DEFENSE.

-He is not on the level of Rigo, Loma, Ward, GGG, Crawford, etc.

-Now he is in his real division, this guy was cutting weight like crazy in 105-108 division, actually he addmited that, and actually he can not make the flyweight.

-He was a diva that ducked Estrada two years in flyweight division, and the direct rematch with Cuadras.

    That is the truth.

I don't feel like anyone ever *really* considered roman p4p #1

    Why?

At the time Wlad was #2 P4P on ring/transnat/etc and Floyd retired. A 6'6" 240 lb heavyweight being P4P king would defeat the purpose of a p4p list so everything was shuffled around. Roman jumped like half way up the list overnight with no explanation into #1.

A lot has changed since then, but Roman was more like a placeholder than anything.

Don't worry man, Roman Gonzalez with all his accomplishments and resumes against A-level fighters in their prime against Cuadras and Estrada and all other great wins at minumweight, he will be an ATG and Estrada and Cuadras could probably be close to be a HOF or just an elite fighter.

You have to land to win. Swatting air and hitting gloves isn't landing.

I agree Gonzalez was overrated relatively and he didn't look great tonight but in no way do you lose a fight in which you outland your opponent so widely.

It's you who need to watch the fight again and pay attention to what's actually landing.

This next stage of his career could be defining for Gonzalez. He is still in an exceptionally deep division with enticing rematches with 3 of the top guys available + Inuoe as a new challenge as well.

Even if he doesnt keep winning every fight, he can be great winning and losing vs these guys like SRR did at MW at the end of his career (not comparing SRR to Choco, just the situation)

I thought Rungvisai won and I made £90 betting on him as well at 10/1 (mental odds really). Gonzalez still showed huge heart, unbelievable combination punching and boxing ability, but he just cant hurt these guys at 115. Cant dent them. His best shots, clean, accurate, well timed, are just bouncing off their chins.

Obviously Gonzalez is not comparable to past P4P no.1's, but he wasnt in competition with them for the top spot. Kovalev, Ward, Crawford etc was who he was compared to and Choco had the best combination of dominant performances and resume out of the lot in most peoples opinion.

Well deserved stint at P4P no.1 and great to see him earn some good money at the end of his career.

Now... will Cuadras stop ducking the Rungivai rematch now please. Rung has some left hands for him

Well first off anyone talking about P4P stuff as much as some of you guys do is a silly ass mfer cuz its scifi fantasy bs that sounds like a discussion between 9 year olds about which superhero would beat some other superhero.

But that being what it is just cuz you lose doesn't mean you weren't previously the best in whatever you wanna suggest someone may or may not have been the best at including silly ass P4P bs. This is like saying no one is really the best if they eventually lose one day. Being the best in something as competitive as pro sports is a ever changing, fluid thing. You can be #1 today & not be tomorrow. And hell potentially be #1 today & not even look top 10 tomorrow in some cases. This is just how it works. Things can change on a dime. And it should just give you more respect for the guys who do stay #1 or among the top guys for long periods of time, not act like the guy who couldn't stay #1 longer wasn't #1 even if it was brief or briefer than others.
