I have no respect for Margacheato. I don't believe Mosley was the first time he tried it either. If he tried it on Mosley he would have assuredly tried it against Mayweather.

The reason Mayweather opted for the buyout rather than waiting for the May 6 result was because the contract had a limited window for the buyout, one that expired before the De La Hoya fight. However, Arum said he would have extended the window if Mayweather had asked. What Arum wouldn't do, he said, was raise the guarantees for other fights outlined in the contract.
Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.
"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

This is why Mayweather vs. Margarito never happened!

margarito was a hype job arum cooked up because he was upset oscar and floyd left to become even bigger stars and make big $$$...margo was unproven only had wins over a prospect with a belt in cintron, and 6 six heads lewis...he was no world beater....the dude was average.
also he could have fought him instead of mitchell, judah, retirment so stop making up straw mans and pretending the only time he could have fought him was instead of baldomir. you said $$$ makes sense except floyd fought sharmba and judah for less than he was being offered to fight marg for...so money only makes sense sometimes?
judah lost to an unknown journeyman named baldomir and floyd still fought him so your marg lost argument holds no water. losing didn't kill judah's chances only marg's hmmm inconsistent poster warning!Last edited by daggum; 11-18-2016, 12:26 PM.

If you include the $19 million-plus live gate (another record) plus millions more in revenue from foreign TV sales, merchandising, sponsorships and closed circuit sales, the fight will gross in excess of $150 million...
De La Hoya was guaranteed $23.3 million and Mayweather $10 million for the fight. With the overwhelming success of the event, De La Hoya could take home upwards of $50 million with Mayweather earning around $20 million.
