CMLL, is the oldest professional wrestling promotion in existence and Mexico’s largest wrestling promotion. Founded by Salvador Lutteroth in 1933.

NJPW is the second-largest pro wrestling promotion in the world. NJPW was founded in 1972 by WWE Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki. It’s known for showcasing the “strong style” version of Japanese puroresu, which is characterized by full contact martial arts strikes and legitimate submission holds.

Its largest event, Wrestle Kingdom, is held every year on January 4 in the Tokyo Dome.

Today's biggest threat to the WWE in English is Lucha Underground! I been to several taping's in East LA, it's damn good.

My all time favorite was WCW and before that ECW! But It's late and the follow up will have to wait till tomorrow! I'm no longer a fan (of the WWE). I have taken my son's twice to Wrestlemania twice in the last 5 years. The last two years they traded Wrestlemania in for the Electric Daisy Carnival in Vegas.

why would Nitro's opening video feature more wwe guys than wcw? If wcw won I still think cats like Goldberg, Sting, DDP, Booker. T, JJ, Hall/Nash, etc. would have been the stars of the show and the focus of the broadcast.

WCW loved pushing WWF guys. Hogan, Savage, Nash, Hall, Hart, Russo, and even Sid Vicious got some major pushed when they signed with WCW.

How did that work? Did both WCW and WWF had their show on Monday night and fans had to choose between the two?

The old NWA was the best promotion. When they became WCW they lost a little bit of the magic.

But I still wish they had survived the Monday Night Wars and hadn't been bought out by the cartoonish WWE.

Hogan was the biggest name in Wrestling (still is) and all of the rest were already known by the public, so they were easier to promote and sell. Makes complete sense. Sting was pushed a lot and was a big name, he was one of their own. Nash started in WcW iirc moved to WWF (got a big push) and so did Hall...or at least he wrestled under his old gimmick in WcW.

Exactly. WWF was shot before WcW so the WcW staff knew the results and would go on air and say the results before the fans actually got a chance to see it. Dirty tricks but WWF would've done it too if the shoe was on the other foot. One of their lead writers at the same who worked with Russo (forgot his name) said anyway. Ruthless business.

NWA definitely seemed cooler, until 1996.

WcW could have definitely survived but it was absolute ****show by the time it was bought out. It was bleeding money, it's owners didn't want it apart of their portfolio for years.

The creative control contracts, the crappy writing and booking, no improvement in the production, politics backstage. By the time it was 2000, the WcW was a shadow of itself. Ric Flair said he was actually ashamed to be a part of it at that time.

WcW was clearly better from 1996-mid 1998 but they pushed the NWO angle for far too long. They should've gone with Sting, Goldberg and Bret Hart in 1998 but they stuck with Hogan and the NWO. They could've done an angle eventually with Sting v Hart for the first half of the year and then moved on to Goldberg at Starcade. NWO should turned on Hogan and splintered with an angle of them turning on Hogan and them fighting each other and Hogan returning with his MURICA gimmick.
