  • Official: NSB 2018 Fighter of the Year

Welcome to Boxingscene's NSB fighter of the year nominations and poll thread for the end of 2018.

Rules are gonna be pretty simple.

Nominate the fighters who you think should be fighter of the year and please state a simple reason as why (fighters beat, belts won/retianed etc)

Posters with less than 500 post counts dont bother voting they will not be counted (unless of course all/most of your posts where in 2018 if you are a new account holder etc)

You can nominate up to 3 fighters and then we can count them up and put the top 5 in the poll starting on monday the 31st and that poll will run until that saturday the 5th of january or that sunday the 6th.

and Yes it is ok to nominate a fighter even if they only fought once in 2018

Im going josh warrington. Is he as good a fighter as usyk? No. But he was considered a limited domestic level fighter before the year and he won twice as the underdog against world level fighters and now has further big fights on the horizon. Who would have thought at the end of 2018 people would be saying warringon v santa cruz is a must see fight? Usyk has had a fantastic year but i like an underdog and warrington is my choice.

Usyk is the far and away winner in the easiest year since 2010 when Sergio Martinez won it maybe even further back than that. He added three titles against two well respected world champions in their back yards, one of which was a unified champion and topped off the year in the backyard of an opponent who'd scored his two biggest wins back-to-back via exciting KO.

Runners up: Lomachenko, Hooker, Warrington, Inoue.

Any fighter that failed a drugs test should be disqualified too IMO.

Cleared out a division. Unified all 200 lb titles then even had time for a big fight in the UK that had a hilarious knockout.

                true....

please post who did he beat as well....

resumes should matter in this decision making

for example (not saying usyk just sayin in general) you can fight a guy with a good record etc but he beat nothing but bums (literal) and hes undefeated fought 4 times etc has a few belts....

Usyk, top2 P4P. Cleaned out and dominated his division, beat a HW contender. Unified titles. Nobody else comes close.
