It depends on style and who you are fighting. Some fighters are extremely dangerous when hurt and recover quickly, so pressing for the KO is too risky. Say what you want about Danny Garcia but the man has a rock-solid chin and is hard to stop. Why risk getting knocked out yourself when you don't have to?

That strategy just as likely ends with Thurman losing.

This is why Loma stands out.
I like Lomachencho, pure boxing skill, and if the KO comes, it comes, but he's smart enough (so far) to know when to go for it.

However, you sound like a little caveman, living vicariously through your favorite fighters, which is pathetic.

floyd should have went for the ko against pac and canelo. ward against froch and kovalev. they let us down. pac and canelo did well to survive and floyd gave away the fight. froch and kovalev did well to survive and ward gave away the fight. ridiculous things that only slck fanboys can say with their double standards.

          "Pac's going to destroy Floyd."
"Kovalev's going to knock out Ward."

The fanboys that wanted Ward and Floyd to lose blame them for not KOng the ideal boxer that was intended to be favorite in doing so...

Worst is to read cowardly text. Can't imagine what they would say in real life.

they didnt destroy them so they lost. you would never say floyd or ward is goign to destroy someone. double standards. the slick guy just has to not be destroyed and get a ref that ignores all his cheating survival tactics and youve already stacked the deck heavily in your favor. last step is making sure some establishment judges who also know and score based on a fighters slick reputation are in there and its almost impossible to lose. a fight is always going to appear somewhat close when one guy is spoiling it up with illegal tactics but some fanboys and judges think these tactics are actually good things. he slowed kov down, he slowed pac down, they couldnt do what they wanted etc...yea cause they were cheating lmao. no one was saying akwindade was slowing lewis down even though its true because akwindade didnt have the slick boxer rep and wasnt the a-side.

don't feel salty. "High-Tech" Floyd aka PBF showed the world what it takes to destroy with "slickness." This whole "sickness" terminology is played out by sore losers like you pointing fingers on "cheating." Boxers will have their moments, just like "moving like a butterfly and stinging like a bee" was the Mecca phrase for "slickness." You "musta" forgot! Coffee?

Mosley was *this* close to knocking Mayweather out in the second round of their fight. He had him hurt and he didn't press forward aggressively enough. It's always the most infuriating thing to go back and see, because it just seemed clear to me exactly what angles and type of punches could have penetrated Floyd's weak defense in the final moments of that round.

I get he probably didn't want to exhaust himself too much, but I feel the moment was right there. And with a guy like Floyd, he's so hard to hit you gotta take whatever chance you can get when you have him hurt. 99.9% of guys' only real chance of beating him is via knockout.

lol Then don't get knocked out. Being able to stop a guy without getting stopped yourself in the process is where the skill aspect of it comes into play.
