  • Adrian Peterson voted the Best Player in the NFL by the players

    TODAY'S NFL NEWS NFL

Adrian Peterson ranked first in NFL 100

Players around the NFL have voted Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson as the league's best player.

he NFL's MVP award, almost breaking the league's single-season rushing record -- 2012 was a good year for Adrian Peterson. This was topped off Thursday night as his peers voted him the league's No. 1 overall player on the NFL Network's 'Top 100' series.

NFL NETWORK TOP 100 PLAYERS 2013
    Rank Player
    1 RB Adrian Peterson, MIN
    2 QB Peyton Manning, DEN
    3 WR Calvin Johnson, DET
    4 QB Tom Brady, NE
    5 DE J.J. Watt, HOU
Peterson was Minnesota's offense in 2012. Despite being the team's primary offensive threat, teams could not stop him, even as defenses knew the ball would be in his hands. Carrying the ball 348 times, Peterson averaged a stunning 6.0 yards per carry en route to 2,097 yards.

Running backs are measured by their 100-yard games. Peterson had 11 such games last season, including seven games topping 150 yards, and two over 200 yards. It wasn't just the yards he picked up, but the rushing economy. An example of this came against a stout Seattle Seahawks defense, where he finished with 182 yards on just 17 carries.

It's hard to argue that the league's MVP didn't deserve the No. 1 spot, and it remains to be seen if Peterson can come close to his 2012 accolades.

What exactly about Peyton Manning being #2 is a joke? And who in your eyes would be a better candidate.

How is it Rodgers was voted Number 1 last year and isn't even in the top 5 this year. Makes no sense.

With that being said Peterson is the definition of a MAN among boys.

              Pretty much.

Rodgers had zero running game, zero offensive line, zero defense, a full ****** playcaller and Greg Jennings and Nelson were busted up for most of the season.

He carried the Packers last year, make no mistake and his numbers, IIRC correctly were better than Peyton Manning's

Peyton is 37....coming off of a career threatening neck injury and has not nearly the physical gifts of A-Rod....he'd be #1 if AP didn't have an even WORSE career threatening injury to rush for the second most yards in NFL history in a season. Nobody studies the game like Manning.

Considering my teams QB has 3x the rings he has. I'd say that's inaccurate.

Manning can have his #2 spot on a meaningless list for all I care
