Don King May Prevent Klitschko Brothers From Reaching Goal
    from http://www.opposingviews.com/i/don-k...-reaching-goal

The boxing world knows that it’s been a long-held aspiration of the Klitschko brothers Vitali and Wladimir to win all four major world heavyweight titles. They have the IBF, WBO and WBC at this present time, but acquiring the elusive fourth belt and holding them all at the same time could prove to be an impossible task.

Vitali Klitschko, aged 39, is expected to retire from boxing after his next title defense which should be successful on October 16 against Shannon Briggs.

Long-time Klitschko political adversary and enemy, the promoter Don King has smartly put himself into position to grab the WBC title by signing former Olympic champion Odlanier Solis of Cuba. King now owns the two fighters holding the #1 and #2 spots in the September 2010 WBC rankings (Ray Austsin and Odlanier Solis, respectively). This means, if Vitali does indeed retire in the remaining months of 2010, King will inevitably control the WBC belt which will be his after the eventual WBC Eliminator clash between Austin and Solis.

Of course, boxing fans need not to be reminded of how Don King felt about heavyweight unification with a Klitschko Brother while he owned former belt-holders John Ruiz and Chris Byrd. In case you do need reminding, King was simply scared to death of sacrificing one of his pawns to a Klitschko and nothing could convince him to take the risk.

On the other side, the WBA belt has been safeguarded from the Klitschkos because Nikolay Valuev, Ruslan Chagaev and now David Haye refuse to sign a contract to risk losing the belt to either Klitschko. Haye currently holds the WBA belt, which some say was stripped unfairly from Chagaev, and Haye is now showing zero interest to ever fight Wladimir Klitschko – a fight he likely knows he will be knocked out in. Haye’s backers at Sauerland have a documented history of avoiding Klitschko – they promote Valuev too.

So with the WBC belt soon to be in Don King’s Florida office and the WBA title to continue to be used as a worthless prop for the masquerade of the Hayefaker, heavyweight unification is looking like an impossible dream at the moment.

And as long as Wladimir Klitschko continues to make boxing look astonishingly simple and easy, while completely dominating and destroying the best challengers in the world such as Sam Peter and Eddie Chambers – we may never see unification.

The political powers in boxing today care nothing about the history and tradition of the richest, most prestitgious prize in all of sport – the world heavyweight title. The political powers of today only care about their own over-sized egos and their unquenchable thirst for power.

Like Klitschko’s trainer Emanuel Steward says, “Everybody’s RUNNING from Wladimir… I’ve never seen anything like it.”
